Epsom lost by just 4 shots to Epsom Park, but had a great chance of winning on the last end.  Needing 4 to win on the last end there was a shot on for Peter, but unfortunately the jack went off the rink.  This meant one shot to Epsom Park.

Well done to everyone who took part in this competition.

This turned out to be a close game up to 10 ends, but then Epsom fell behind 11 - 18 after 15 ends.  They played very well over the last 6 ends and went into the last end 19 - 20.  However, they managed to secure the draw with a 'lucky' bowl.

This rink was behind all evening due to the fact that the Raynes Park skip was bowling very well.  After 10 ends they were behind 7 - 12 and had a bad penultimate end when they dropped 4 shots.  The last end turned out to be very crucial.  When Roy played his second bowl Epsom were 2 shots down.  However, Roy touched the jack over to 2 Epsom bowls.  David then drew another for Epsom to hold 4 shots.  The Raynes Park skip missed the head narrowly with his first bowl, but Les then drew a 5th shot.  The Raynes Park skip played an identical bowl to his first and slid through the same gap to leave Epsom holding the 5 shots for an overall victory by just 1 shot.

Green Maintenance October 14th 2011

Every year in October a team of helpers visit the Club on many occasions to prepare the green for the next season. A huge amount of work is undertaken to ensure that the Club has a excellent bowling surface. The Club would like to thank these members who give up a great deal of their time to do this work. The Club hires the firm Ground Force to do the initial spreading with their specialised equipment.
The whole process started on Monday 10th October 2011 when scarifying was undertaken both ways on the green. On Tuesday 11th October 2011 Solid Tining was undertaken also both ways. On Thursday 13th October 2011 the seeding of the green took place together with sweeping. On Friday the task was to spread 4 tons of earth over the green before the other tasks were completed.

A big thanks to:- Tony Dunn David Sowdon  Roy Doughty Robert York  Brian Kenyon   George Sperring
John Warren  Geoff Purrott  Peter Miller  Alan Wybrow & Terry Hoye

The results were slightly down compared with 2010, but what is most disappointing is that 3 matches had to be cancelled. Two of these were down to our opponents being unable to raise teams and the other was cancelled because of poor weather.

League Matches
Compared with last season when Epsom only lost 2 games the Club had a disappointing season in 2011. Considering they had won 7 out of 8 games right at the start it was a big let down to lose 4 matches by the end of the season
