Mixed Friendly Epsom played their very last game of the season in a mixed triples friendly game at home against Cheam Fields. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 73 - 54. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 36 - 26 & by 10 shots (53 - 43) on ends 15. They won by 19 shots. Details: Rink 2 Liz Hind John Wellard Annette Jordan won 21 - 9 Epsom led 5 - 4 after 5 ends & won the next 6 end to lead 19 - 4. Thy lost the last 2 ends & won by 12 shots. Rink 3 James Henderson Mary Green Les Owen won 21 - 13 Epsom won 12 of the 18 ends. They led 10 - 5 after 9 ends & 17 - 6 after 15 ends. They won by 8 shots. Rink 5 Dennis King Karen Wellard Fi Drinkall won 14 - 13 Epsom were 4 - 8 down after 9 ends & 5 - 11 behind on end 13. They won the next 4 ends to lead 14 -11. They dropped 2 shots on the last end & won by 1 shot. Rink 6 Anita King Ruth Baker John Warren lost 17 - 19 Epsom were 6 - 11 down after 9 ends & 8 - 19 on end 15. They finished strongly & lost by 2 shots. Final Score: Epsom 73 Cheam Fields 54 Summary for 2026 (2025 figures in brackets) There were 12 (14) games scheduled and 10 (12) played. Mixed Friendly Epsom played at home against Merton Park in a Mixed Friendly match on Saturday 12th September 2026. They won on 1 rink, drew on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & drew overall 50 - 50. After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 29 -21 & were 10 shots ahead (46 - 36) on ends 15. They were outscored 4 - 14 over the last 3 ends & tied the match. Rink 5 Anita King Ruth Baker Fred Read drew 15 - 15 Epsom led 8 - 6 after 9 ends & 15 - 10 on end 16. They lost the last 2 ends & tied the rink. Final Score: Epsom 50 Merton Park 50 Anita played her very first match for Epsom Bowling Club.

Vilamoura Mixed League Epsom played their last game in the Vilamoura Mixed League against Rose Hill on Monday 7th September 2026. They won at home & away & the match 37 - 21 (6 - 0). After 9 ends across both rinks Epsom led 27 - 11 & were 14 shots ahead (33 - 19) on ends 15. They won by 16 shots. Details: Home: Ray Evans Trish Southgate David Fearn won 19 - 10 Epsom led 14 - 5 after 9 ends & 17 - 9 on end 15. They won by 9 shots. Away: Liz Hind Phil Sims Fred Read won 18 - 11 Epsom led 10 - 6 after 7 ends & won the next 3 ends to lead 14 - 6. They led 16 - 10 on end 15 & won by 7 shots. Final Score: Epsom 37 Rose Hill 21 Epsom 6 points Rose Hill 0 points Ray Evans played in his very first game in this league. Ward Cup The delayed Ward Cup took place on Friday 4th September 2026. Details: Rink 6 David Fearn v Richard Senior 18 - 21 Richard led 14 - 10 after 11 ends, but David won the next 4 ends to lead 17 - 14. Richard then won 5 of the last 6 ends played to win by 3 shots.

Mixed Friendly Epsom played away against Epsom Park in a Mixed Friendly match on Thursday 3rd September 2026. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 70 - 61. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 35 - 25 & were 17 shots ahead (62 - 45) on ends 15. They won by 9 shots. Rink 4 Sandy Cooper Frances Suttonwood Bob Blaker won 19 - 16 Epsom were 7 - 8 down after 9 ends, but the scores were level 15 - 15 on end 16. They won by 3 shots. Rink 5 Karen Pitt Barry Jordan Mick Cooper lost 9 - 16 Epsom were 4 - 10 down after 9 ends & 7 - 15 behind on end 15. They lost by 7 shots. Final Score: Epsom 70 Epsom Park 61

Mixed Friendly Epsom played Horley at home in a Mixed Friendly match on Wednesday 2nd September 2026. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 86 - 57. After 9 ends across the 4 rink Epsom led 43 - 33 & were 28 shots ahead (75 - 47) on ends 15. They won by 29 shots. They then led 17 - 14 going into the last end, but dropped 4 shots to lose by 1. Rink 5 Liz Hind Mick Cooper Fi Drinkall won 29 - 8 Epsom led 19 - 0 after 8 ends & 26 - 2 on end 13. They won by 21 shots. Rink 6 Sandy Cooper Barry Jordan Les Owen won 22 - 14 Epsom were 7 - 8 down after 9 ends, but took the lead 12 - 11 on end 12. They won the next 4 ends to lead 22 - 11 & won by 8 shots. Final Score: Epsom 86 Horley 57

Vilamoura Mixed League Epsom played Sutton in the Vilamoura Mixed League on Tuesday 1st September 2026. They won at home & away and the match 46 - 22 (6 - 0). After 9 ends across the two rinks Epsom led 30 - 6 & were 20 shots ahead (39 - 19) on ends 15. They won by 24 shots. Details: Home: Nick Rowan Trish Southgate Mary Green won 20 - 10 Epsom led 13 - 2 after 9 ends & 15 - 8 on end 15. They won by 10 shots. Away: Sue Carter Liz Hind Phil Sims won 26 - 12 Epsom led 17 - 4 after 9 ends & 24 - 11 on end 15. They won by 14 shots. Final Score: Epsom 46 Sutton 22 Epsom 6 points Sutton 0 points Sue Carter played in her very first Vilamoura Mixed match.

Sutton & District Bowling Association - June Hope Cup Congratulations to our very own Fi Drinkall for reaching the final of the Ladies June Hope Cup. The final will be played on Saturday 19th September 2026 at Southey Bowling Club (time to be announced). In reaching the final Fi beat Grace Stanley (Walligton), Jackie Davies (Supreme) & Jackie Cole (Carshalton). She now plays Jemma Kirby (Chipstead) in the final. Well done Fi & congratulations from us all at Epsom Bowling Club.
