Mixed Friendly

Epsom played against Merton Park away in a Mixed Friendly match on Saturday 13th September 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & drew overall 42 - 42. After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom were 14 - 22 down, but the scores were level 36 - 36 on ends 15.  The match ended as a draw.

Details:

Rink 1  Barry Coe Sue Skinner John Wellard Ruth Baker  won 19 - 9

Epsom led 8 - 3 after 9 ends & 15 - 8 on end 15.  They won by 10 shots.

Rink 2  James Henderson Lynn Phillips Sandy Cooper Christine Summerfield  lost 15 - 16

Epsom were 3 - 11 down after 9 ends, but won the next 5 ends to lead 15 - 11.  They lost the last 4 ends to lose by 1 shot.

Rink 3  Elaine Coe Karen Wellard Nick Rowan Mick Cooper  lost 8 - 17

Epsom were 3 - 8 down after 9 ends & 6 - 15 behind on end 15.  They lost by 9 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 42 Merton Park 42

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played against Esher at home in a Mixed Friendly Triples match on Saturday 6th September 2025. They won on all 4 rinks & the match 80 - 45. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 34 - 25 & were 24 shots (55 - 31) ahead on ends 15.  They won by 35 shots.

Details:

Rink 1  Elaine Coe John Wellard Norman Mann  won 23 - 12

Epsom were 5 - 7 down after 8 ends, but won the next 5 ends to lead 17 - 7.  They won the last 4 ends & won by 11 shots.

Rink 2  Penny Payne Terry Mears Bob Blaker  won 13 - 12

Epsom were 5 - 12 down after 13 ends, but won the next 4 ends to be 10 - 12 down. On the last end Esher held 2 shots, but the skip with the last bowl chipped the jack to Epsom's 3 bowls leaving the rink winning by 1 shot.

Rink 5  Barry Coe Karen Wellard Trish Southgate  won 17 - 14

Epsom led 10 - 9 after 10 ends, but won the next 4 ends to lead 17 - 9.  They lost the last 4 ends, but won by 3 shots.

Rink 6  Dennis King Ruth Baker David Fearn  won 27 - 7

Epsom won 13 of the 18 ends. They led 5- 4 after 7 ends, but scored a total of 18 shots over the next 6 ends to lead 23 - 4.  They won by 20 shots.

Dennis King played in his first match for Epsom Bowling Club.

BLESMA Pairs - Men

David Fearn & Keith Roberts travelled the short distance to play the Semi Final of the BLESMA Pairs against Phil Bailey & Andrew Granat (Cheam Fields) on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 - Neutral green.

After 9 ends they were 5 - 9 down  & 6 - 10 behind on end 11.  They then won the next 4 ends to lead 16 - 10.  Going into the last end they led by 4 shots, dropped a count of 3 to win by 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 16  Cheam Fields 15

The final will be played at Sutton Bowling Club on Saturday 20th September 2025 (10.30am).

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played against Epsom Park at home in a Mixed Triples Friendly match on Monday 1st September 2025.  They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 98 - 49. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 47 - 23 & by 41 shots (80 - 39) on ends 15.  They won by 49 shots.

Epsom led 17 - 3 after 9 ends & 28 - 7 on end 15.  They won by 18 shots.

Rink 2  Sue Skinner John Warren Mick Cooper  lost 12 - 20

Epsom were 5 - 9 down after 9 ends, 11 - 15 behind on end 15 & lost by 8 shots.

Rink 3  Sandy Cooper Trish Southgate Phil Sims  won 22 - 11

Epsom led 9 - 6 after 9 ends & 11 - 10 on end 14.  They won 3 of the last 4 ends to win by 11 shots.

Rink 5  Roger Jackson  Richard Senior Fi Drinkall  won 35 - 7

Epsom led 16 - 5 after 9 ends & won 6 of the last 9 ends to win by 28 shots.
