Mixed Friendly Epsom played in a mixed friendly match at home on Sunday 22nd September 2022. They won on 1 rink, lost on 3 rinks & lost overall 55 - 69. Details: Rink 1 Elaine Coe John Wellard Mick Cooper lost 10 - 22 Epsom were 2 - 14 down after 9 ends & lost by 12 shots. Rink 2 Barry Coe Sandy Cooper Les Owen lost 13 - 16 The scores were level 7 - 7 after 8 ends & still level 13 - 13 on end 15. Epsom lost the last 3 ends & lost by 3 shots. Rink 3 Phil Sims Karen Wellard John Warren won 19 - 17 After 4 ends Epsom were 0 - 7 down, but won the next 5 ends to lead 13 - 7. They lost the next 3 ends to go behind 13 - 14, drew level 16 - 16 on end 15 & won by 2 shots. Rink 4 Ray Evans Christine Summerfield Trish Southgate lost 13 - 14 The scores were level 7 - 7 after 9 ends & level again 10 - 10 on end 14. Epsom were 10 - 14 down on end 16, won the last 2 ends, but lost by just 1 shot. Final Score: Epsom 55 Cheam Fields 69 Did you know Epsom have played Cheam Fields 28 times in friendly matches. They have won 12, lost 15 & drawn 1. 5 games have been cancelled. This season Epsom have played 11 mixed matches, won 5 & lost 6. Autumn Triples The final of the Autumn Triples was played on Friday 20th September 2024. The winners were, Paul Steedon, Ruth Baker, Frances Suttonwood & John Warren. Details Rink 3 David Bragg Anne Marie Cyril Newman v Paul Steedon Ruth Baker John Warren (also in the previous games - Frances Suttonwood) Won 14 - 11 After 6 ends Cyril's team led 10 - 2 & 11 - 5 on end 9. However, John's team won the last 3 ends picking up 9 shots to win by 2 shots. Many thanks to Ruth Baker & Frances Suttonwood who organised the Competition.

Mixed Friendly Epsom travelled to Merton Park to play in a mixed friendly match. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & lost overall 48 - 49. Details: Rink 1 Brian Kenyon Ray Evans Roger Jackson won 20 - 7 Epsom led 7 - 4 after 9 ends & 18 - 6 on end 15. They won by 13 shots. Rink 2 Audrey Jones Richard Price Fi Drinkall won 19 - 16 Epsom led 12 - 6 after 9 ends, but the scores were level 14 - 14 on end 15. Epsom won 2 of the last three ends to win by 3 shots. Rink 3 Judy Jackson Don Indran Keith Roberts lost 9 - 26 Epsom were 3 - 17 down after 9 ends & lost by 17 shots. Final Score: Epsom 48 Merton Park 49 Did you know Epsom first played Merton Park in a mixed friendly match in 2016. Since then there have been 6 matches with Epsom winning 2, losing 4 & there have been 3 games cancelled. This season Epsom have played 10 mixed friendly games, won 5 & lost 5. Epsom play their last mixed fixture of the season against Cheam Fields at home on Sunday 22nd September 2024.

East Surrey League - Ladies Epsom played at home on Sunday 8th September 2024 in their last ESLL match of the season. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & won overall 27 - 22 (3 - 1). The game was played over 15 ends & Chipstead were 1 player short on rink 3. Details: Rink 2 Sandy Cooper Karen Wellard Frances Suttonwood Fi Drinkall lost 11 - 20 Epsom were 7 - 11 down after 7 ends & lost by 9 shots. Rink 3 Penny Payne Trish Southgate Ruth Baker Mary Green won 16 - 2 Epsom led 10 - 1 after 7 ends & won by 14 shots. (Chipstead scored 7 shots, but the ¼ off rule applied). Final Score: Epsom 27 Chipstead 22 Epsom 3 points Chipstead 1 point Did you know Epsom ladies have played Chipstead 11 times in this league. They have won 8 & lost 3. This season they have played 9 matches, won 5, lost 4 & 1 game has been cancelled. They have scored 18½ points.

Mixed Friendly v Esher Epsom travelled to Esher on Saturday 7th September 2024 to play in a mixed Triple match. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 50 - 43. After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom were 20 - 27 down, but drew level 38 - 38 on ends 15. They won by 7 shots. Details: Rink 1 Elaine Coe Mick Cooper John Warren won 18 - 15 Epsom were 9 - 11 down after 9 ends & 11 - 15 behind on end 13. They won all the remaining ends to win by 3 shots. Rink 2 Ray Evans Karen Wellard Bob Blaker lost 13 - 14 Epsom were 3 - 8 down after 9 ends & 9 - 14 behind on end 15. They won the last 2 ends & lost by 1 shot. Rink 3 Penny Payne John Wellard Trish Southgate won 19 - 14 The scores were level 8 - 8 after 9 ends, but Epsom led 14 - 12 on end 15. They won 2 of the last 3 ends to win by 5 shots. Mixed Friendly v Horley Epsom travelled to Horley on Wednesday 4th September 2024 to play in a mixed Triple match. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 74 - 68. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom were 29 - 34 down, but led by 7 shots (59 - 52) on ends 15. They won by 6 shots. Details: Rink 2 Nick Rowan Sandy Cooper Les Owen won 22 - 11 The scores were level 9 - 9 after 12 ends, but Epsom outscored Horley 13 - 2 over the last 6 ends to win by 11 shots. Rink 3 Barry Coe Ray Evans Mick Cooper lost 20 - 21 Epsom were 6 - 16 down after 10 ends, but won the next 6 ends to lead 19 - 16. They dropped 5 shots on end 17 & lost by 1 shot. Rink 4 Sue Skinner Paul Maskell Trish Southgate won 17 - 16 The scores were level 7 - 7 after 9 ends, but Epsom led 17 - 10 on end 16. They dropped 6 shots over the last 2 ends, but won by 1 shot. Rink 5 Elaine Coe Frank Thompson Keith Roberts lost 15 - 20 The scores were level 9 - 9 after 10 ends, but Epsom were 12 - 15 down on end 15. They lost by 5 shots. Final Score: Epsom 74 Horley 68 Did you know Epsom first played Horley in a mixed match in 2015. Since then there have been 6 games with Epsom winning 4 & losing 2. Nick Rowan played in his first mixed match for Epsom Bowling Club.

Sutton & District Bowling Association - BLESMA Pairs Penny Payne & Sandy Cooper reach the Final of the Ladies BLESMA Pairs by beating Cheam Fields in the Semi Final 19 - 17. Details: Penny& Sandy led 14 - 1 after 6 ends, but Cheam Fields won ends 9 to 13 to narrow the gap to 8 shots (17 - 9). With 2 ends to play Epsom ladies led 19 - 10 & dropped 7 shots over these 2 ends, but Penny & Sandy won by 2 shots. Road to the Final:- First Round won against Ewell Village 15 - 13 Second Round won against Carshalton 18 - 15 Third Round won against Wallington 22 - 4 Semi Final won against Cheam Fields 19 - 17 Fi Drinkall & Mary Green lost in the 2023 Final. Mixed Friendly Epsom travelled the short distance to play Epsom Park on Monday 2nd September 2024. They won on 2 rinks, lost on the third & lost overall 52 - 57. Details: Rink 2 Terry Mears Lynn Phillips Phil Sims won 21 - 20 Epsom were 6 - 8 down after 9 ends, but led 18 - 14 on end 15. They won by 1 shot. Rink 3 Audrey Jones Paul Maskell Frank Thompson lost 6 - 20 Epsom were 3 - 3 after 6 ends, but lost the next 9 ends to go 3 - 20 down. They won the last 3 ends & lost by 14 shots. Rink 4 Sue Skinner Liz Hind Keith Roberts won 25 - 17 Epsom were 8 - 14 down after 13 ends, but then picked up a total of 13 shots over the next 3 ends to lead 21 - 14. They won by 8 shots.
