Ladies' Friendly Matches Summary 2014 – (2013 figures in brackets)

Epsom played a two wood mixed friendly against the Epsom Choir on Tuesday 16th September 2014.  This friendly took place at the request of the Choir.  Although Epsom won easily everyone had an enjoyable evening.

Mixed match versus Epsom Male Voice Choir 16th September.

Ron Snow writes:-

As many members will know the Choir have booked our green and facilities for a day in the last two years. At the end of last season we were approached about the possibility of them having a match against the club.
After some discussions between George of the Choir and Ron Snow it was eventually agreed to have a three rink mixed triples match in September. What we had to consider was that they had only about three or four regular bowlers and the rest required to use our bowls.
Bearing in mind that the evenings were drawing in Ron decided at the last moment to reduce the match to two wood triples. This was justified as one rink just managed 18 ends whilst the other two 15.
As one would expect the club were clear winners but the match was played in good spirits with shouts of delight from the singers whenever they won an end. It was encouraging to see some of their beginners improving as the match progressed.
After the match we provided a ploughman's supper to complete a very sociable evening. I can see this becoming a regular event but although we started at 5.45 we could have done with more time. So next year I would suggest we bring the date forward if possible.
