Mole Valley Cup - Semi Final Epsom played Leatherhead in the Mole Valley Cup Semi Final on Friday 29th March 2014 & lost 16 - 18 Team: Jo Ellis Audrey Jones Geoff Purrott Peter Miller lost 16 - 18. Epsom got off to an excellent start and led 11 - 2 after 6 ends. After 10 ends they were still ahead 13 - 8, but then stuck on 13 shots for 6 ends allowing Leatherhead to get back into the game. Going into the last end Epsom led by 1 shot but dropped 3 shots to lose by 2 shots. Final Score: Epsom 16 Leatherhead 18 |

Eric Hingston Cup The Annual Indoor match against King George Indoor Bowling Club took place on Wednesday26th March 2014. After winning the trophy last year for the very first time Epsom were hoping to repeat this result. However, King George put out a strong side and won convincingly 98 - 39. Details: Rink 1 Derek Jones Anne Hoffmann Eileen Mills Peter Humphreys lost 11 - 39 After 10 ends Epsom trailed 6 - 18 & continued to find the green difficult and lost by 28 shots. Rink 2 Audrey Jones Heather Pigden Derek Hoffmann John Warren lost 15 - 39 This was a similar story to Rink 1 when Epsom was 6 - 19 down after 10 ends eventually losing by 24 shots. Rink 3 Bill Lawrence Sue Needham Jan Allum Peter Miller lost 13 - 20 This turned out to a much closer game. After 10 ends Epsom trailed 6 - 12 & 9 - 15 after 15 ends. They eventually lost by 7 shots. Although this was a heavy defeat it must be remembered that Epsom had many players who do not play indoors on a regular basis and all the King George team play regularly on their green. |

Mole Valley Cup Epsom played East Horsley in the Mole Valley Cup on Friday 21st March 2014 & lost 15 - 17 Team: Jo Ellis Audrey Jones Geoff Purrott Peter Miller lost 15 - 17 After 6 ends Epsom were 1 shot adrift, 4 - 5, but levelled the scores 9 - 9 after 12 ends. On the 17th end they picked up 4 shots to lead 15 - 13, but had a poor last end dropping 4 shots to lose by 2 shots. However, Epsom still qualified for the Semi Finals based on earlier results. Final Score: Epsom 15 East Horsley 17 |

Croydon Open Tournament Congratulations go to Les Owen & three other members of Sutton Indoor Bowling Club for winning the Croydon Open Plate. The team entered the Tournament, but were knocked out in the first round - losing by just 1 shot. The first round losers then qualified to play in the Plate. To reach the final Sutton beat a Wallington rink & 2 Croydon rinks. In the final Sutton played another Croydon rink and after 10 ends led 20 - 0. They continued to outplay their opponents winning comfortably 32 - 10. |

Mole Valley Cup Epsom played Ashtead in the Mole Valley Cup on Friday 14th March 2014 & won 26 - 11. Team: Jo Ellis Audrey Jones Geoff Purrott Peter Miller won 26 - 11 After 6 ends Epsom led 9 - 3, and continued to dominate the game. They led 15 - 8 after 12 ends & went on to win by 15 shots. Final Score: Epsom 26 Ashtead 11 |

Jubilee Cup Epsom played the quarter final in the Jubilee Cup at King George IBC on Monday 14th November 2013 against Southey. Unfortunately Epsom could not put out the same team as in previous rounds and were soundly beaten by a very strong Southey side. Full details: Rink 1 Howard Ellis Martin Harbottle Terry Hoye Peter Miller lost 7 - 33 Epsom struggled right from the start in this game. After 5 ends they were 1 - 10 down & continued to be outplayed losing by 26 shots. Epsom conceded after 19 ends. Rink 2 David Bragg Marilyn Walsh David Sowdon John Huxford lost 11 - 18 This was a different game with Epsom competing well. They were 8 - 12 behind after 10 ends, 10 - 15 down after 15 ends finally losing by 7 shots. Epsom conceded after 18 ends. Final Score: Epsom 18 Southey 51 Thanks to the many supporters who gave up their evenings throughout this competition. |

Mole Valley Cup Epsom played Pippbrook in the Mole Valley Cup on Friday 28th February 2014 & won 25 - 10. Team: Ruth Nixon Audrey Jones Geoff Purrott Peter Miller won 25 - 10 After 6 ends Epsom led 5 - 3, but Pippbrook drew level after 12 ends, 10 - 10. Epsom dominated the remaining ends scoring 15 shots without reply. Final Score: Epsom 25 Pippbrook 10 |

Mole Valley Cup Epsom played Chessington in the Mole Valley Cup on Friday 7th February 2014 & lost by just 1 shot. Team: Ruth Nixon Audrey Jones Geoff Purrott Peter Miller lost 15 - 16 After 6 ends Epsom led 6 - 4, but lost the lead being adrift 8 - 11 after 12 ends. Going into the last end Epsom needed 4 to win, but just managed 2 shots. Final Score: Epsom 15 Chessington 16 Epsom's first game was abandoned because of flooding outside the Centre. |

Jubilee Cup Epsom played their third game in the Jubilee Cup at King George IBC on Monday 14th November 2013 against Chessington. They drew on one rink & lost the second. However, Epsom qualify for the Quarter Finals on shot difference. Full details: Rink 4 John Warren Terry Hoye Peter Miller Jim Scott drew 9 - 9 As the score suggests this was a very close game. After 10 ends Epsom led 6 - 5 and held the lead right up to the last end. On the final end Epsom was 5 shots down at one stage, but managed to get second wood to draw the rink. Rink 3 David Bragg Marilyn Walsh John Huxford Les Owen lost 10 - 13 Epsom got off to a slow start on this rink finding themselves 0 - 5 down after 5 ends. Epsom then drew level 5 - 5 after 8 ends and the game continued to be very close. Going into the last end the scores were level 10 - 10, but Epsom dropped 3 shots to lose by 3. Final Score: Epsom 19 Chessington 22 |

Jubilee Cup Epsom played their second game in the Jubilee Cup at King George IBC on Monday 9th November 2013 and won on one rink & lost the second. They won overall 25 - 20. Full details: Rink 2 John Warren Terry Hoye Peter Miller Jim Scott won 14 - 7 Epsom led throughout the evening on this rink. They led 11 - 3 after 10 ends, 12 - 7 after 13 ends going on to win by 7 shots. Rink 3 David Bragg Marilyn Walsh David Sowdon Les Owen lost 11 - 13 This was a close game all evening. The scores were level, 8 - 8 after 9 ends, but Ember then took the lead and kept in front for the rest of the game. Epsom lost by 2 shots. Final Score: Epsom 25 Ember 20 David Bragg made his debut in the Jubilee Cup & Les Owen played his 50th game in this competition. (Epsom have entered the Competition each year from 1995 - except in 2012) |

Indoor Match v Mole Valley Epsom played a friendly Indoor match against Mole Valley on 1st November 2013 and won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks and lost the match overall 78 - 88. After 18 ends overall Epsom were winning this match. However, they dropped a total of 23 shots across the 4 rinks over the last 3 ends. Details: Rink 1 Bill Lawrence Derek Jones Lyz Warren John Warren lost 13 - 32 After 10 ends Epsom was 9 - 18 down and struggled for the rest of the game finally losing by 19 shots. Rink 2 Brian Kenyon Peter Humphreys Eileen Mills Tony Dunn won 19 - 15 After being 5 - 8 down after 10 ends Epsom fought back well to go ahead 14 - 10 after 15 ends. They continued to play well winning by 4 shots. Rink 3 Audrey Jones Terry Berry Ruth Nixon Peter Miller lost 21 - 23 This rink was 7 - 10 behind after 10 ends, but played well over the next 5 ends to go ahead 20 - 11. However, they had a poor finish to the game losing by 2 shots. Rink 4 Clive Allum Ron Snow Jan Allum Geoff Purrott won 25 -18 This rink held the lead throughout the game. They led 12 - 6 after 10 ends, 20 - 11 after 15 ends and went on to win by 7 shots. Final Score: Epsom 78 Mole Valley 88 |

However, you should not brush when it is Frosty,
Raining or Snowy.

Jubilee Cup Epsom played their first game in the Jubilee Cup at King George IBC on Thursday 14th November 2013 and won on one rink & lost the second. They won overall 28 - 21. Full details: Rink 2 John Warren Derek Hoffmann Terry Hoye Jim Scott lost 8 - 15 This turned out to be a very close game right until the last end. Epsom led 8 - 5 after 10 ends, but Raynes Park drew level 8 - 8 & then went ahead 10 - 8 on the penultimate end. Unfortunately Epsom dropped 5 shots on the last end to lose by 7 shots. Rink 3 Howard Ellis Marilyn Walsh John Huxford Les Owen won 20 - 6 Raynes Park played with only 3 players which made the game difficult for them. Epsom led all the way through, leading 11 - 6 after 10 ends going on to win 20 - 9. However, as Raynes Park were 1 player short they had to take one third off their score. The score was amended so Epsom won by 14 shots. Final Score: Epsom 28 Raynes Park 21 Howard Ellis & Marilyn Walsh played in their very first Jubilee Cup match for Epsom Bowling Club. |
