Chrystie League Epsom men played away against Brockham on Monday 30th June 2025. They won on both rinks & the match 37 - 31 (4 - 0). After 9 ends across the 2 rinks Epsom were 13 - 17 down, but led by 10 shots (34 - 24) on ends 15. They won by 6 shots. East Surrey League - Men Epsom men played away against Purley on Saturday 28th June 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 48 - 43. Epsom were 21 - 26 down after 9 ends across the 3 rinks, however the scores were level 39 - 39 on ends 16. Epsom outscored Purley 9 - 4 over the last 2 ends to win by 5 shots. East Surrey League - Mid Week Triples Epsom men played their first ESL Mid Week Triples match of the season at home against Old Coulsdon on Thursday 27th June 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 56 - 51 (6 - 4). After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 27 - 20, but were 1 shot behind (42 - 43) on ends 15. However, they outscored Old Coulsdon 14 - 8 over the last 3 ends to win by 5 shots. Details: Rink 2 Roger Jackson Frank Thompson Keith Roberts won 31 - 9 Epsom won 14 of the 18 ends. Ladies Friendly Epsom ladies played away against Leatherhead on Tuesday 24th June 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rinks & lost overall 20 - 25. Details: Rink 3 Elaine Coe Liz Hind Christine Summerfield Fi Drinkall won 11 - 7 (14 ends played) Epsom led 6 - 3 after 7 ends & won by 4 shots. Rink 4 Sue Carter Frances Suttonwood Sandy Cooper Sandie Harvey lost 9 - 18 (16 ends played) Epsom led 9 - 7 after 11 ends, but lost the remaining ends to lose by 9 shots. Rink 4 Stefan Tomm Fred Read Norman Mann Martin Harbottle won 25 - 13 Epsom were 6 - 10 down after 11 ends, but won the next 6 ends (including 8 shots on end 17) & won by 12 shots. Rink 5 David Bragg John Hart John Warren Jim Scott lost 8 - 19 Epsom were 5 - 8 down after 9 ends & lost by 11 shots. Final Score: Epsom 46 Croydon 68 Epsom 2 points Croydon 8 points Did you know Fred Read played in his first game for Epsom Bowling Club in this league. He becomes the 175th member of Epsom Bowling Club to play in this league. Les played his 300th match in this league. He played his first game in 1987 against Caterham. Chrystie League Epsom men played their fourth Chrystie league game of the season at home against Pippbrook on Monday 23rd June 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & lost overall 29 - 31 (1 - 3). After 9 ends across the 2 rinks the scores were level 12 - 12, but Epsom were 1 shot behind (18 - 19) on ends 15. They lost by 2 shots. Details: Rink 1 John Savill Terry Mears John Warren Phil Sims won 18 - 13 Epsom led 7 - 4 after 9 ends, but were 12 - 14 down on end 15. Going into the last end Epsom were 13 - 15 down, but picked up 5 shots to win by 3. Rink 2 Richard Price John Wellard Mick Cooper John Hart lost 11 - 16 Epsom were 5 - 8 down after 9 ends & 6 - 15 behind on end 15. They lost by 5 shots. Sutton & District Bowling Association - Yonwin Cup Epsom men travelled to Malden Manor to play in the first round of the Yonwin Cup on Sunday 22nd June 2025. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 52 - 33. Epsom led 28 - 15 after 9 ends across the 3 rinks & by 14 shots (42 - 28) on ends 15. They won by 19 shots. Details: Rink 3 David Bragg Keith Roberts Norman Mann Martin Harbottle lost 10 - 16 The scores were level 6 - 6 after 8 ends & still level 9 - 9 on end 13. Epsom were 10 - 13 down on end 16, lost the last 2 ends to lose by 6 shots. Rink 5 Phil Sims John Hart David Fearn Les Owen won 25 - 7 Epsom won 13 of the 18 ends. They led 12 - 6 after 10 ends, won the next 6 ends to go further ahead 22 - 6. They won by 18 shots. Final Score: Epsom 52 Malden Manor 33 Did you know The Yonwin Cup started in 1949. Epsom entered the competition for the first time in 1976. Epsom have won the Yonwin Cup 7 times. Since 1976 Epsom have played 30 different clubs in this Competition. Sadly 11 of these clubs no longer exist. To date Epsom have played 128 matches in the Yonwin Cup, won 86 & lost 42.

They lost the last 3 ends, but won by 1 shot. Rink 3 Away: Sandy Cooper Frances Suttonwood Fi Drinkall lost 13 - 19 Epsom were 3 - 15 down after 11 ends & 11 - 16 behind on end 16. They lost by 6 shots. Final Score: Epsom 28 Malden Manor 33 Epsom 2 points Malden Manor 3 points.

Men's Friendly Epsom men played at home on Tuesday 17th June 2025 against Leatherhead. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 69 - 52. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 39 - 26 & were 22 shots ahead (62 - 40) after 15 ends. They won by 17 shots. Rink 4 Nick Rowan Fred Read Martin Harbottle won 22 - 6 Epsom won 14 of the 18 ends. They led 10 - 3 after 9 ends & 15 - 4 on end 15. They won by 16 shots. Rink 5 Stefan Tomm John Hart Phil Sims won 21 - 11 Epsom led 16 - 2 after 9 ends & won by 10 shots. Bowls England Ladies Top Club Epsom ladies played Old Coulsdon in the B E Top Club on Monday 16th June 2025 and won the Fours & lost the singles, Pairs & Triples. They lost 1 - 3. Rink 1 Pairs: Sandy Cooper Ruth Baker lost 12 - 19 Epsom were 1 - 13 down after 11 ends. They won the last 2 ends & lost by 7 shots. Bowls England Two Fours Epsom travelled the short distance to play Epsom Park in the third round of the B E Two Fours on Sunday 15th June 2025. They lost on both rinks & the match 21 - 41. Mixed Friendly Epsom played at home against Bookham in a mixed friendly match on Saturday 14th June 2025. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 61 - 60. Epsom were 20 - 28 down after 9 ends across the 4 rinks & 6 shots behind (46 - 52) on ends 15. They outscored Bookham 15 - 8 over the last 3 ends to win by 1 shot. Men's Friendly Epsom men played away against Chessington on Wednesday 11th June 2025. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 57 - 37. Rink 2 Keith Roberts Brian Collis David Fearn won 15 - 12 Epsom led 9 - 4 after 9 ends & 14 - 8 on end 15. They won by 3 shots. Rink 3 Nick Rowan Bob Blaker Les Owen won 36 - 3 Epsom led 26 - 0 after 12 ends, won 15 of the 18 ends to win by 33 shots. Aea 3 Top 4 Epsom travelled to Bletchingley to play in the Area 3 Top 4 on Tuesday 10th June 2025 and won 18 - 11. Vilamoura Mixed League Epsom played against Croydon on Wednesday 11th June 2025. They won away, lost at home & lost overall 30 - 40 (2 - 4). Details: Home: Don Indran Trish Southgate Fred Read lost 12 - 23 Epsom were 7 - 11 down after 9 ends & lost the next 6 ends to go 7 - 21 down. They lost by 11 shots. They have won 30, lost 12 & there have been 3 drawn matches. Last season Epsom won at home & lost away. Since the league began Epsom have now played 218 matches, won 130, lost 81 & drawn 7. Epsom have won this league on 5 occasions - 2004, 2017, 2018, 2023 & 2024.

Thw Windeler Cup was played on Sunday 1st June 2025 The Windeler Challenge Cup, which dates back to 1927, was played out this year by 24 members who were split in to 8 mixed teams of triples. Pool A consisted of 4 teams who played all in the opposing Pool B. The teams played 4 matches in the initial rounds of 4 ends, keeping a running total of shots both for and against. The winning teams were those with the most positive shot difference in each of the two pools. Group A runners up were Richard Price, Ruth Baker and Mary Green (+4) and winners were Barry Hillson, Christine Summerfield and Mick Cooper (+7). In Group B joint runners up were Lynn Phillips, Karen Wellard and John Warren (0) who tied with Penny Payne, Terry Mears and Fi Drinkall (0), with winners of the group emerging as Liz Hind, Frank Thompson and Jim Scott (+5). The final was played out by the group winners over 5 ends, Barry, Christine and Mick led 3-1 after 3 ends but a late charge from Liz, Frank and Jim saw them win the last 2 ends, picking up 7 shots in the process to take the match and the title 8-3. Well done to all involved, congratulations to all our finalists and to this year’s champions Liz Hind, Frank Thompson and Jim Scott.
