East Surrey League - Ladies

Epsom played at home against Purley Bury on Sunday 30th June 2019. They won on 1 rink, drew on the second & won the match 46 - 43 (3˝ - ˝).  Epsom Ladies dominated this game right up to the 15th end when they led 39 - 24 across the 2 rinks.  Over the last 6 ends they scored 7 shots to Purley Bury's 19.  This was the first League match against Purley Bury as the joined the League in 2019.

Details:

Rink 2  Lesley South Trish Southgate Anne Hoffmann Marilyn Walsh-Hoye  won 23 - 20

Epsom was 7 - 9 down after 10 ends, but went ahead 17 - 12 on the 15th end. Going into the last end Epsom was 18 - 20 down.  They were 4 shots down in the head on this final end, but Anne with her last bowl trailed the jack back to 3 Epsom bowls.  They picked up 5 shots to win  by 3 shots.

Rink 3  Audrey Jones Ruth Baker Ruth Nixon Heather Pigden  drew 23 - 23

This rink had a good lead, 22 - 12 after 15 ends, but were outscored by Purley Bury 1 - 11 over the remaining ends to draw the rink.

Final Score:  Epsom 46  Purley Bury 43   Epsom 3˝ points  Purley Bury ˝ point

 

Sutton & District - Yonwin Cup

Epsom played at home against Cuddington on Sunday 30th June 2019. They won on all 3 rinks & the match 74 - 32.

This win is now the record score win (+42) achieved in this Competition.

Details:

Rink 3  Brian Kenyon Bob Blaker Les Owen Terry Berry   won 18 - 13 (20 ends played)

Epsom led all morning.  They were 12 - 9 ahead after 12 ends & won by 5 shots.

Rink 4  Howard Ellis Andrew Turnbull Dickie Day John Meningen  won 27 - 8 (19 ends played)

Epsom dominated this rink & led 13 - 4 after 9 ends & 22 - 5 after 15 ends.  They won  by 19 shots.

Rink 5  Stefan Tomm Geoff Purrott  John Warren Peter Miller  won 29 - 11 (18 ends played)

Epsom also dominated this rink going 23 - 4 ahead after 10 ends.  They won by 18 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 74  Cuddington 32

Epsom are away in the next round to Cheam or Carshalton.

Did you know

Epsom first played in the Yonwin Cup in 1976.  Epsom have won the Cup on 7 occasions & been runners up 5 times.  Since 1976 Epsom have played in 118 matches, won 84 & lost 34.  The most appearances by current Members is 60 (Peter Miller & Les Owen).  Epsom have played 34 different clubs in this competition since 1976. (I must get out more).

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom played away against Old Coulsdon on Saturday 29th June 2019. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 87 - 79 (8 - 4).  This was only the second time since the League began that Epsom have won at Old Coulsdon.  This was Old Coulsdon's first defeat of the season.  Epsom led all afternoon across the 4 rinks.  They led 50 - 33 after 10 ends, but Old Coulsdon closed the gap to just 2 shots, 73 - 71 after 18 ends.  However, Epsom won by 8 shots.

Details:

Rink 3  Stefan Tomm Dave Pearce Andrew Turnbull Peter Miller  lost 19 - 21

After 10 ends Epsom trailed 7 - 11, but went ahead 16 - 13 on the 16th end.  With 2 ends to go Epsom was 16 - 20 down, but scored 3 shots to leave themselves 1 down going into the last end.  They lost by 2 shots.

Rink 4  Ted Ray David Bragg Jim Scott Terry Berry  won 33 - 12

This was an outstanding performance by Epsom on this rink.  They won 15 of the 21 ends & led 18 - 3 after 10 ends. Over the last 7 ends they outscored Old Coulsdon 12 - 2 & won by 21 shots.

Rink 5  Howard Ellis Keith Roberts Terry Hoye John Meningen  won 18 - 17

This was a game of two halves when Epsom led 14 - 2 after 10 ends.  Old Coulsdon came back strongly to take the lead for the first time on the 20th end, 16 - 17.  However, Epsom scored 2 shots on the last end to win by 1.

Rink 6  Brian Kenyon Bob Blaker John Warren Les Owen  lost 17 - 29

Epsom struggled on this rink and were 11 - 17 down after 10 ends.  They went further behind 11 - 29 on the 16th end, but won the last 5 ends to lose by 12 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 87  Old Coulsdon 79    Epsom 8 points  Old Coulsdon 4 points.

Did you know

Old Coulsdon was one of the founder members of the East Surrey League.  Epsom played them in the very first ESL match in 1987.  Epsom lost 70 – 82 (1 – 5), won on 1 rink, lost on 3 rinks.

In the early years Old Coulsdon dominated games against Epsom.  In the first 18 matches Epsom won only 4.  However, in the last 19 matches Epsom have won 9 & lost 10.

The best win came in 2016 when Epsom 91 – 55 (10 – 2) & the best rink win came in 2015, 33 – 6.

Epsom have now played Old Coulsdon 37 Times, won 13 & lost 23.  One match was drawn.

Old Coulsdon have won the East Surrey League title on 10 occasions.

Old Coulsdon were founded in 1936.

 

East Surrey League - Ladies

Epsom played away against Old Coulsdon on Saturday 29th June 2019. They won on 1 rink, lost heavily on the other & lost overall 19 - 42 (2 - 4). The Ladies agreed to play 15 ends because of the heat.

Not a good afternoon for Epsom on this rink being outplayed by a very good Old Coulsdon side.

Rink 2  Sandy Cooper Ruth Baker Eileen Mills Marilyn Walsh-Hoye  won 13 - 10

Epsom was 7 - 9 down after 10 ends, but won the next 3 ends to go ahead 12 - 9.  They won by 3 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 19  Old Coulsdon 42   Epsom 1 point  Old Coulsdon 3 points.

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom Men played Chessington at home on Wednesday 26th June 2019 and won on all 3 rinks & the match 74 - 34.

Epsom led all afternoon across the 3 rinks.  They led 46 - 27 after 12 ends & won by 40 shots.

Rink 4  Derek Martin Frank Thompson John Warren  won 33 - 8

Epsom dominated this rink winning 12 of the 18 ends.  They led 23 - 2 after 7 ends & 27 - 8 after 14 ends.  They won by 25 shots.

Rink 5  Stefan Lukatschat David Bragg Bob Blaker  won 20 - 16

Epsom was 6 - 12 down after 10 ends, but were level 12 - 12 on the 13th end. They were 12 - 15 down on the 15th end, but won the next 2 ends to take the lead 20 - 15.  They won by 4 shots.

Rink 6  Brian Kenyon Keith Roberts Pat Buckley  won 21 - 10

Epsom led 11 - 8 after 12 ends & 17 - 9 after 16 ends.  They won by 11 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 74  Chessington 34

Did you know

Epsom first played Chessington in a Friendly match in 1995.  Since then the two Clubs have played each other 24 times.  Epsom have won 17 & lost 6.  One game was cancelled.  Epsom remained undefeated in the last 11 matches.  The best win came in the above game.

Chessington were founded in 1956.

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom Ladies played Leatherhead at home on Tuesday 25th June 2019 and won on 1 rink, drew on 1 rink & won overall 31 - 28.  The Ladies led all afternoon across the 2 rinks.  They led 15 - 12 after 10 ends, 20 - 13 after 15 ends & won by 3 shots.

Rink 2  Sandy Cooper Frances Suttonwood Ruth Nixon Heather Pigden  won 16 - 13

Epsom led 8 - 7 after 10 ends & won by 3 shots.

Rink 3  Rose Price Ruth Baker Eileen Mills Marilyn Walsh-Hoye  drew 15 - 15

After 12 ends Epsom led 8 - 6, but lost the next 3 ends to go 8 - 13 down. Epsom went into the last end 4 shots adrift, but secured a well earned draw.

Final Score:  Epsom 31  Leatherhead 28

 

Chrystie League

Epsom travelled to Leatherhead on Monday 24th June 2019 and lost on both rinks & the match 23 - 34 (0 - 4). Epsom led 16 - 14 across the 2 rinks after 10 ends, but the scores were level 23 - 23 after 15 ends.  Epsom failed to score on both rinks over the last 3 ends when they dropped a total of 11 shots.

Epsom led 9 - 7 after 10 ends, but went behind 10 - 12 on the 14th end.  They lost the last 3 ends to lose by 7 shots.

Rink 3  Brian Kenyon Phil Sims Frank Thompson Keith Roberts   lost 12 - 16

The scores were level 7 - 7 after 10 ends & still level 12 - 12 after 15 ends. Just like rink 2 Epsom lost the last 3 ends dropping 4 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 23  Leatherhead 34   Epsom 0 points  Leatherhead 4 points.

 

Area 3 Top 4 - Epsom 'B'

Epsom 'B' played away against Felbridge on Monday 24th June 2019 and lost 9 - 20.

110th Anniversary

Epsom Bowling Club celebrated their 110th Anniversary on Sunday 23rd June 2019.

65 Adults attended with several guests & 6 young people (Lottie, Paige, Ellie, Ruby, Jasmine & Freddie) – hopefully they will become new bowlers.

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom played at home against Croydon on Saturday 22nd June 2019. They won on all 4 rinks & the match 90 - 55 (12 - 0)This was an excellent result after the disappointment of losing to Cheam Fields last week.  Epsom led all afternoon across the 4 rinks.  They led 46 - 22 after 10 ends & 73 - 52 after 18 ends.  They won by 35 shots.

Rink 3  Simon Meller Dave Pearce Andrew Turnbull Peter Miller  won 24 - 10

Epsom led 11 - 6 after 10 ends & 13 - 9 after 13 ends. They then won the next 7 ends to go further ahead 24 - 9.  They won by 14 shots. 

Rink 4  Stefan Tomm Bob Blaker John Warren Les Owen  won 27 - 14

Epsom went ahead 12 - 1 after 8 ends & still led 17 - 12 after 15 ends.  Epsom won 15 of the 21 ends winning by 13 shots.

Rink 5  Ted Ray Stefan Lukatschat Terry Hoye Terry Berry  won 19 - 16

Epsom was in control up to the 13th end when they led 14 - 7.  However, they dropped 6 shots on the next end & from then on the game was very close.  Epsom won by 3 shots.

Rink 6  Howard Ellis Geoff Purrott Dickie Day John Meningen  won 20 - 15

Epsom led 11 - 6 after 10 ends & 14 - 10 after 15 ends.  On the 18th end Epsom led by just 1 shot (15 - 14), but outscored Croydon 5 - 1 over the last 3 ends to win by 5 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 90  Croydon 55    Epsom 12 points  Croydon 0 points

Did you know

Croydon joined the East Surrey League in 2014 (same year as Cheam).

Epsom have played Croydon 7 times, won 6 & lost 1.  The best win came in 2018, 94 – 54 (+40) & the best rink win came in the same match, 30 – 13 (+17).  The best sequence of wins is 5 (2016 – 2019).

Croydon was founded in 1749.

Southampton Old Bowling Green situated on the corner of Lower Canal Walk & Platform Road, Southampton is the world's oldest surviving bowling green.  It was first used in 1299 (a few bowls delivered then???)

 

Area 3 Top 4 - Epsom 'A'

Epsom 'A' played away against Sutton 'B' on Friday 21st June 2019 and won 21 - 20.

Details:

Rink 2  Derek Martin Howard Ellis Andrew Turnbull John Huxford  won 21 - 20

Details: The scores were level 9 - 9 after 11 ends & still level 10 - 10 on the 13th end.  However, Epsom won the next 4 ends to go 17 - 10 ahead. With 2 ends to go Epsom led 21 - 14, but dropped 6 shots over the last two ends to win by just 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 'A' 21  Sutton 'B' 20

Epsom 'A' will be away to Horley or Bletchingley 'B' in the next round.

 

Sutton & District Bowling Association - Arthur Hughes Triples

Epsom played away against Cheam on Friday 21st June 2019 and lost 12 - 20.

Details: Phil Sims Terry Hoye John Warren  lost 12 - 20

Epsom led 5 - 2 after 4 ends, but lost the next 3 ends to go behind 5 - 8. They were still behind 12 - 14 on the 15th end & lost the last 3 ends to lose by 8 shots.

 

Bowls England - Tony Allcock Trophy

Epsom played away against Purley Bury on Wednesday 19th June 2019 in the 3rd round and lost on both rinks & the match 25 - 30.  Despite this loss this was an excellent performance by Epsom.

After 10 ends across both rinks Epsom was 15 - 16 down & still 1 shot behind on the 15th end 23 - 24.  They lost by 5 shots.

After 5 ends Epsom led 7 - 3 & were still in front 9 - 7 after 10 ends, but went behind 12 - 13 on the 15th end.  They lost by 3 shots

Rink 2 Lesley South Frances Suttonwood Howard Ellis Bob Blaker  lost 12 - 14

Epsom also led after 5 ends on this rink 4 - 3, but went behind 6 - 9 on the 10th end.  However, Epsom drew level 11 - 11 on the 15th end, but lost by 2 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 25  Purley Bury 30

Howard Ellis played in his very first game in this Competition.

 

Chrystie League

Epsom played at home against Bookham on Monday 17th June 2019 & won on both rinks & the match 43 - 15.

This was Epsom's 100th win in this League since it began in 2001.

Epsom was 1 - 3 down after 4 ends, but won the next 5 ends to go 20 - 3 ahead.  They won by 15 shots.

Epsom dominated this rink winning 13 of the 18 ends.  They led 11 - 3 after 10 ends & won by 13 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 43  Bookham 15    Epsom 4 points  Bookham 0 points

Ted Ray, Richard Price & Mick Cooper played in their very first Chrystie League match.

 

Past Times

Epsom 'B' played Carshalton in the Past Times on Sunday 16th June and won at home, lost away, but won on the extra end which was played at Carshalton.

Epsom played very well as a rink and led 19 - 6 after 15 ends.  They won by 9 shots

Epsom was 2 - 3 down after 4 ends and then lost the next 6 ends to go 2 - 13 down.  They were 7 - 19 down after 16 ends, but won 4 of the remaining ends to lose by 9 shots.  Epsom won the extra end.

Final Score:  Epsom 34  Carshalton 33

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom played away at Cheam Fields on Saturday 15th June 2019. They won on 1 rink, lost on 3 rinks & lost overall 73 - 77 (2 - 10).  This was a very disappointing loss for Epsom played on a very challenging green.

This rink was lost on the very last end.  Epsom led 15 - 7 after 10 ends & 18 - 12 after 15 ends.  Epsom led 20 - 19 going into the last end, but dropped 3 shots to lose by 2 shots.

Rink 4  Stefan Tomm Graham Coleman Terry Hoye Terry Berry  lost 14 - 18

Epsom was 5 - 12 down after 10 ends & 6 - 16 behind after 14 ends.  They won the next 3 ends to narrow the gap to 4 shots, but lost by 4 shots.

Rink 5  Dave Pearce Phil Sims Bob Blaker Les Owen  lost 14 - 27

Epsom could not get to grips with this rink & found themselves 4 - 11 down after 10 ends.  They were further behind 6 - 19 after 15 ends & lost by 13 shots.

Rink 6  Howard Ellis Geoff Purrott Dickie Day John Meningen  won 25 - 10

Epsom won 13 of the 21 ends & were 14 - 5 ahead after 10 ends.  They led 20 - 7 after 15 ends & won  by 15 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 73  Cheam Fields 77   Epsom 2 points  Cheam Fields 10 points

Cheam Fields joined the East Surrey League in 1990.

Epsom have played Cheam Fields 30 Times, won 19, lost 10 & drawn 1.

The best win came in 2010, 127 – 52 (+75) & the best rink win came in the same match, 39 – 7 (+32).

The best sequence of wins is 8 (2009 – 2014).

Cheam Fields were in division 2 during the 2015, 2016 & 2018 seasons.

Cheam Fields was founded in 1914.

 

Bowls England - Top Club (Top 11)

Epsom played Sutton at home on Sunday 9th June 2019. They won the Pairs, but lost the other disciplines.  However, Epsom put in an excellent performance in the Pairs, Triples & Fours.

Details:

Rink 2  Two Wood: Stefan Tomm  lost 7 - 17

After 5 ends Stefan was 2 - 4 down & further behind 5 - 11 after 12 ends.  The game was over on the 17th end with Stefan losing by 10 shots.

Rink 3  Singles: Dave Pearce  lost 11 - 21

Dave struggled to get into this game & found himself 1 - 10 down after 6 ends.  He lost by 10 shots.

Rink 5  Pairs: Stefan Lukatschat Peter Miller  won 22 - 15

This was an excellent performance by Epsom against a very strong Sutton Pair.  They led 15 - 5 after 10 ends & finished after 19 ends winning by 7 shots.

Rink 6  Triples: Brian Kenyon Geoff Purrott Terry Hoye  lost 12 - 14

Another good performance by Epsom on this rink.  They were 3 - 12 down after 11 ends, but outscored Sutton 9 - 2 over the rest of the game to lose by just 2 shots.

Rink 4  Fours: Howard Ellis Keith Roberts Bob Blaker Andrew Turnbull  lost 15 - 16

Yet another good performance against a very strong Sutton 4.  Epsom was 6 - 13 down after 12 ends, but outscored Sutton 9 - 3 over the last 8 ends to lose by just 1 shot. (20 ends played).

Final Score:  Epsom 1 point  Sutton 4 points

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom played Ashtead at home on Saturday 8th June 2019. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 87 - 60 (10 - 2). This turned out to be a bit of a struggle for Epsom at the beginning across the 4 rinks - particularly on rink 4.  Epsom trailed 30 - 34 after 10 ends, but went ahead 49 - 45 after 15 ends.  The game was decided across the 4 rinks over the last 3 ends when Epsom outscored Ashtead 32 - 13.  Epsom won by 27 shots.

Epsom was 6 - 8 down after 11 ends, but won the next 6 ends to go 15 - 8 ahead.  They won by 10 shots.

Rink 4  Howard Ellis Phil Sims Terry Hoye Peter Miller  lost 25 - 26

Epsom only scored on 3 of the first 12 ends on this rink & found themselves 6 - 20 down.  Epsom came back strongly over the last 9 ends when they outscored Ashtead 19 - 6 (including a count of 7 on end 19) to fall just 1 shot short.  A great comeback.

Rink 5  Stefan Tomm Stefan Lukatschat John Warren Jim Scott  won 23 - 12

Epsom led 11 - 5 after 10 ends & 15 - 7 after 15 ends.  They won by 11 shots.

Rink 6  Dave Pearce Bob Blaker Andrew Turnbull Les Owen  won 19 - 12

Epsom was 7 - 6 ahead after 10 ends & then scored on the next 7 ends to go further ahead 18 - 6.  They won by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 87  Ashtead 60    Epsom 10 points  Ashtead 2 points

Did you know

Ashtead joined the East Surrey League in 1990.

Epsom have played Ashtead 28 times.  They have won 22, lost 5 & drawn 1.

The best win was 116 – 55 (+61) in 2015 and the best rink win was 34 – 9 (25) in 2004.  The best sequence of wins is 8 (1998 – 2005).

In the last 10 matches Epsom have only lost once.

Ashtead played in Division 2 during the 2016, 2017 & 2018 seasons.

Ashtead was founded in 1921.

 

Bowls England - Tony Allcock Trophy

Epsom played at home against Purley on Friday 7th June 2019 in the above Competition.  After an excellent win against Cheam in the first round they went on to beat Purley 38 - 29 to reach the 3rd round for the very first time since 2011.

Epsom was 11 - 22 down after 10 ends across the 2 rinks & 25 - 29 down after 15 ends.  However, they outscored Purley 13 - 0 over the last 3 ends to win by 9 shots.

Epsom was 4 - 14 down after 10 ends & 10 - 19 adrift after 15 ends.  They won the last 3 ends to lose by 3 shots.

Epsom was 7 - 8 down after 10 ends, but went ahead 15 - 10 on the 15th end. They won the last 4 ends to win by 12 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 38  Purley 29

Epsom are away to Purley Bury in the 3rd round.

Lesley South & Fred Read played in their first game in this Competition.

Did you know

This Competition began in 2011 - set up by Tony Allcock.

Since 2011 Epsom have entered a team each year except for 2018.  Epsom have won 5 matches & lost 5.  The best win came against Cheam in 2012, 46 - 20 & the best rink win came in the game against Cheam Fields, 29 - 12 in 2015.

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom played Carshalton away on Thursday 7th June 2019 in a Triples match. They won on all 3 rinks & the match 59 - 36.  Epsom started slowly on all 3 rinks finding themselves 6 - 12 down after 5 ends across the 3 rinks.  However, after 10 ends they were 34 - 14 ahead.  They won by 23 shots.

Rink 1  Rose Price Ruth Baker Heather Pigden  won 20 - 12

Epsom was 0 - 5 down after 4 ends, but won the next 5 ends to go 9 - 5 ahead.  They kept the lead for the rest of the game & won by 8 shots.

Rink 2  Audrey Jones Frances Suttonwood Marilyn Walsh-Hoye  won 17 - 11

Epsom was 1 - 3 down after 4 ends, but won the next 7 ends to go ahead 14 - 3.  They won by 6 shots.

Rink 3  Sandie Harvey Sylvia Smart Anne Hoffmann  won 22 - 13

A similar story to rink 1 & 2 on this rink with Epsom 2 - 4 down after 5 ends.  They won the next 5 ends to go ahead 13 - 4.  They won by 9 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 59  Carshalton 36

Did you know

Epsom’s Ladies’ fixtures against Carshalton Ladies until recently were scheduled at the end of the season. Not surprisingly many of these matches were cancelled because of bad weather.

Epsom’s first match against Carshalton was scheduled in 2009, but was cancelled.

Since then there have been 11 matches scheduled. 3 Matches won, 2 Lost & 6 cancelled.

The best win was in 2007, 45 – 17 (+28).  Carshalton Ladies were founded in 1932.

 

Mixed Friendly

Epsom was behind all afternoon on this rink. They only played 17 ends (miscalculation on ends played).

Rink 4  Rose Price Eileen Mills Bob Blaker  won 15 - 14

After 14 ends Epsom was 8 - 12 down but took the lead 2 ends later.  Going into the last end Bob was 4 shots down, but played an excellent bowl to pick up 2 shots for the win.

Epsom played Caterham at home on Sunday 2nd June 2019. They won the Pairs & Fours, but lost both Singles & the Triples. They lost 2 - 3.

John was 4 - 6 down after 7 ends, but lost the next 4 ends to go further behind 5 - 11.  After 18 ends John was 11 - 16 down & lost the next 3 ends to lose 11 - 21.

Rink 2 Two WoodSingles: Bob Blaker  lost 7 - 17

Bob was 2 - 1 up after 3 ends, but lost the next 8 ends to go 2 - 14 down.  The game finished on the 17th end leaving Bob losing by 10 shots

Rink 4 Pairs: Dave Pearce  John Warren  won 22 - 19

Epsom led 10 - 6 after 10 ends & 16 - 14 after 15 ends.  They won by 3 shots.

Rink 3 Triples: Howard Ellis Terry Berry Les Owen  lost 11 - 18

Not a good morning for Epsom on this rink.  They were 4 - 10 down after 10 ends & 6 - 16 behind on end 15.  They lost by 7 shots.

Rink 5 Fours: Keith Roberts John Huxford Terry Hoye Peter Miller  won 15 - 14

The scores were level 7 - 7 after 10 ends, but Epsom were ahead 13 - 9 on the 15th end.  The game ended on end 19 with Epsom winning by 1 shot.

Epsom played Wallington at home on Saturday 1st June 2019. They won on all 4 rinks & the match 108 - 62 (12 - 0)Epsom led across the 4 rinks all afternoon.  They led 58 - 34 after 10 ends & 78 - 49 after 15 ends.  They went on to win 46 shots.

Epsom got off to an excellent start going 11 - 1 ahead after just 5 ends. Wallington closed the gap to 1 shot, 11 - 10 after 9 ends, but Epsom stayed ahead and outscored Wallington 14 - 7 over the remaining ends.  They won by 8 shots.

Rink 2  Brian Kenyon Phil Sims Andrew Turnbull Peter Miller  won 25 - 18

Epsom led 15 - 4 after 8 ends, but lost the next 4 ends, but were still ahead 15 - 10.  They had a good lead, 25 - 12 after 18 ends & won by 7 shots.

Rink 3  Howard Ellis Geoff Purrott Terry Hoye John Meningen  won 32 - 12

Epsom played well on this rink and won 16 of the 21 ends.  They were 1 - 6 down after 3 ends, but won the next 10 ends to go 22 - 6 ahead.  They won by 20 shots.

Epsom led 15 - 10 after 10 ends and won 6 of the remaining ends to win by 11 shots.

Epsom played Cheam Fields at home on Saturday 1st June 2019. They lost on both rinks & the match 39 - 43. The Ladies were behind all afternoon across the 2 rinks, but came back well on both rinks over the last few ends.

Epsom was 7 - 10 down after 10 ends & further behind 9 - 18 on the 15th end.  They fought back well to take the lead 21 - 19 on the 20th end only to drop a count of 4 on the last end to lose by 2.
