Mary Bragg

 

Mary joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2011.  She joined from West Park Bowling Club.  She played her very first East Surrey League game at Old Coulsdon on Saturday 1st June 2013 (Lead).  Mary transferred to Social Membership in 2016.

Dawn Chappell

 

Dawn joined in 2018 as a novice bowler. Dawn played her first match for Epsom Bowling Club at Leatherhead on Tuesday 26th June 2018. Dawn did not rejoin in 2019

 

Claire Collis

 

Claire joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2013.  She played her very first competitive match against Epsom Park on Thursday 1st August 2013 (lead). Claire decided not to re join in 2015.

 

Betty Day

Betty was Captain in 2000 & Vice Captain in 1999, She is currently the Competition Secretary & Social Secretary - 2008/10.

Betty changed to Social Membership in 2015.

Vera Deane

Vera was Chairman of the Ladies’ Section from 1989 to 1994.

She was Captain in 1972, 1973, 1974 & 1975.  Vera is a Club Vice President.  Vera started work in the Official Solicitor's Department, in the Strand.  After her marriage she left the Law Courts to live in Epsom.  At the time she was a keen tennis player.  Her neighbours played bowls & she took up the game after her husband, Gordon brought home a set of bowls.  Vera started bowling at Epsom Court.  In 1958 she joined Ewell Ladies & she won the Junior Singles in her first year.  She won the Championship, Handicap & Two Wood Singles in 1962.Vera gained her Surrey Badge in 1963.  In the same year she reached the quarter finals of the Surrey Fours & in 1965 she reached the Semi Finals and won.  Vera is responsible for starting up Epsom Court Ladies B.C.  Vera joined Epsom Bowling Club in 1966 & won her first Championship Singles in 1969.

Vera was a keen Indoor Bowler and served as President, Captain, Secretary and Delegate for Epsom Ladies who play at the Rainbow Centre.

Vera designed a commemorative tea cloth for the English Women's B.A. at the 8th Women's World Bowls Convention held at Leamington Spa in 1996.  Vera has raised over £30,000 in her time associated with St Martha on the Hill Church, Guildford.

Vera did not renew her membership in 2013.

Sadly Vera passed away on Thursday 18th August 2016.

Jo Ellis

Jo was Vice Captain in 2002 and was the Catering Officer for a few years. She was a member of the rink that lost in the Final of the Mole Valley Cup in 2013.

Jo was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2005, 2006 & 2014. She transferred to Social in 2016.

Jo was made a Honorary Life Member in 2019.

Pat Felloni

Pat was, Captain in 2002 & Vice Captain in 20012003 and is currently the Match Secretary.

Pauline File

 

Pauline joined Epsom Bowling Club as a new bowler in 2013.

She played her very first competitive game away against Ember on Wednesday 29th May 2013. (Lead)

Pauline was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2014.

Doris is a member of the Executive Committee representing the lady players.

Phyllis Gault

Phyllis was born in County Durham.  After living in various parts of the UK she came to Epsom in 1964.  Phyllis joined Epsom Bowling Club as a new player, and wishes she had starting bowls sooner. Phyllis says her club record is modest, but an enjoyable achievement.  Phyllis left the Club in 2009.

Eileen Godfrey

Eileen was the Ladies Treasurer and has been in this position since 1998.  She stepped down after the 2013 season.

Eileen changed to Social Membership in 2015.

Sadly Eileen passed away in mid March 2017.

Betty Grant

Betty has lived in Surrey all her life.  She joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2005.  She had a successful operation on her hand in 2014, but decided to give up bowling.

Interests: Music, Painting, Gardening, Sport.  Ex tennis & Badminton player and ex Skier & Rider.  Epsom RDA Volunteer helper for 30 years. Walking my old dog.

 

Pam Holme

Pam joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2017 as a novice bowler.  She did not re join in 2018.

 

Tessa Hurworth

Tessa started bowling when she joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2007.  Tessa won her first Club Trophy in 2010 winning the Junior Singles.District Councillor for Mole Valley Council.  Member of the National Trust, The Royal Horticultural Society and English Heritage.

Maureen Morris

 

Maureen joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2011.  She began bowling at Banstead Neville Bowling Club. Maureen became the first lady member of Epsom Bowling Club to win Nobby's Triples.  She left the Club after the 2013 season.

Maggie O'Sullivan

Maggie joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2008.  Maggie reached the Semi Final of the Surrey Triples with Gill Sperring & Eileen Mills in 2009.

Maggie qualified for her Surrey County Badge in 2010 and reached the Semi Final of this competition.  Maggie also reached the Semi Final of the Surrey Fours with Anne Hoffmann, Eileen Mills & Gill Sperring.  Maggie became the Ladies' Captain in 2012.

Maggie left Epsom Bowling Club after the 2013 season.

Joan reached the Quarter Finals of the Surrey Triples in 2003 with Eileen Mills & Jill Harris.

 

Nancy Smillie

Nancy was born in Scotland, but has lived in England since she was 21 years old. Nancy belonged to Chessington Bowling Club for 2-3 years & won the Ballot Cup in 2006.  Joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2006.  Nancy is currently the Catering Officer & is a member of the Executive Committee.

Nancy did not renew her membership in 2011, but re joined to bowl in 2012 & moved to Social Membership in 2015.

Freda Starkey

Freda won the Surrey Pairs with Gill Sperring in 1999 and reached the Final of the Surrey Fours with Eileen Mills, Janet Cheesman & Gill Sperring in 2002.

Diana Taylor

Diana joined Epsom Bowling Club in 1995.  From 2002 she has been the Secretary of the Bridge Club held in the Club House every Monday afternoon. Diana was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2005 & 2006.

Maureen Trumble

 

Maureen was born in Clapham in 1930 and moved to Cheam at the age of 2.  She worked on 3 monthly magazines Fleet Street including features on Fashion & Films. Sadly Maureen's first husband died at the early age of 41. After meeting & marrying Percy she moved to Epsom & they both joined Epsom Bowling Club in 1986. Maureen played tennis, rowed every weekend with the Sea Rangers & entered Regattas.  She also ran a Netball team.  Maureen organised plays & parties for the Sea Rangers & played Badminton for 40 years.  She has been the Ladies’ Secretary from 1998.  She was Captain in 1995 & 1996.  Maureen is a Honorary Club Vice President and a Club Coach & has served on the Committee since 1991.  Maureen was Ladies' Chairman from October 1997 until January 1998.

Maureen's talents have come very much to the fore with her involvement with the popular Club Pantomime, which is a feature of the Annual Christmas Party.  Maureen became the Club Senior Vice President in 2008.  Maureen became the second lady President of Epsom Bowling Club in 2010.

Maureen was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2005 & 2006. She decided not to bowl in 2016.

Vi joined Epsom Bowling Club in 1994.  Vi did not renew her membership in 2012.

Pat Walmsley

Pat was born in South Lambeth.  She is now retired after working as a secretary and purchase ledger and credit control clerk.  Pat lived in Morden, Surrey, and moved to North Cheam when marrying 36 years ago.  She moved to Worcester Park in 1985 and then to Tattenham Corner.  Pat previously belonged to Worcester Park B.C. and won something, but can't remember!!

Pat re-joined the Club in 2014 after some years away.  Pat did not renew her membership in 2017.

Lyz Warren

Lyz was born in south London and has lived in Surrey most of her life. After an active outdoor life in the Girl Guides, Lyz trained and qualified as a children’s nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital and as a general nurse at Hammersmith Hospital. She has worked in a variety of roles as a nurse, teacher and manager at The Children's Trust at Tadworth Court where children with profound and multiple disabilities and complex health needs receive high quality care, for nearly forty years and plan to retire in 2008.  Lyz joined Lower Kingswood Bowls Club in 1995 and was Ladies Champion in 2000.  Joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2006.

Lyz became the Ladies' Vice Captain in 2010 and Captain in 2011.  In 2012 Lyz became the first Lady at Epsom Bowling Club to become Secretary.  Lyz was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2006 & 2014.

Sadly Lyz passed away on Friday 16th October 2015.  She will be sadly missed by everyone at Epsom Bowling Club.

Jane Wheeler

Jane joined Epsom Bowling Club in 2013 as a new bowler. She played her very first competitive game away against Ember on Wednesday 29th May 2013. (Two).

Jane played in her very first East Surrey League Match against Sutton on Thursday 18th July 2013. (Two).  In 2014 Jane reached the last 16 of the Surrey Pairs (with Sandra Huxford).  She played her first game in the Past Times Competition in 2014 against Old Coulsdon (Three).  Jane was a member of the squad that won the East Surrey League in 2014.  She won a record breaking 5 trophies in 2014.  These were her first trophy wins.

Jane did not renew her membership in 2016.
