Ladies' East Surrey League

Epsom Ladies played at home against Wallington in the ESL on Saturday 6th August 2016.  They lost on both rinks & the match 35 - 62 (0 - 4).

Details:

Rink 4  Ruth Baker  Ruth Nixon  Sylvia Smart  Gill Sperring  lost 11 - 37

Epsom was just 2 shots adrift after 10 ends, but they had a very poor second half .  They were 10 - 19 down after 15 ends and lost heavily by 26 shots.

Rink 5  Audrey Jones  Sue Needham  Anne Hoffmann  Eileen Mills  lost 24 - 25

Epsom was 9 - 14 down after 10 ends, but came back well to level the scores 18 - 18 on the 15th end.  The scores were still level 21 - 21 on the 18th end and going into the last end Epsom led 24 - 21.  However, the Wallington skip with her last bowl took out the Epsom shot bowl to hold 4 shots to win by 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 35   Wallington 62     Epsom 0 points  Wallington 4 points

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom Men played a 2 rink Friendly match against Wallington on Saturday 6th August 2016 and won on 1 rink lost on the other, but won overall 41 - 40.  Epsom Men have won all of their 8 Friendly matches this season.

Details:

Rink 1  Bill Lawrence  Phil Sims  Geoff Purrott  Pat Buckley  lost 17 - 24

Epsom went behind 8 - 10 on the 10th end and were behind for the rest of the afternoon.  They lost by 7 shots.

Rink 2  Keith Roberts  David Hutchison  Bob Blaker  Martin Harbottle  won 24 - 16

Epsom led all afternoon.  They led 11 - 8 after 10 ends & 16 - 12 after 15 ends.  Epsom dropped 4 shots on the 20th end which made the overall score level.  When Martin went down to bowl he faced 2 shots down, but with his last bowl drew the shot to win the rink by 8 shots & the match by just 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 41  Wallington 40

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom Ladies travelled the short distance to Epsom Park on Thursday 4th August 2016 to play a 2 rink Triples match.  They won on both rinks & the match 39 - 21.

Details:

Rink 4  Audrey Jones  Ruth Baker  Sylvia Smart  won 20 - 9

Epsom got off to a good start & led 7 - 1 after just 5 ends.  They were still ahead 16 - 3 after 11 ends & went on to win by 11 shots.

Rink 5  Pat Walmsley  Anne Hoffmann  Gill Sperring  won 19 - 12

This was a game of two halves.  Epsom was 5 - 8 down after 8 ends, but outscored Epsom Park 14 - 4 in the second part of the game & went on to win by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 39  Epsom Park 21

 

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played Reigate Priory at home in a Mixed Triples match on Wednesday 3rd August 2016 and lost on 2 rinks, won on 1 rink but won overall 56 - 51.  This was the 8th successful win this season leaving Epsom unbeaten in Mixed matches.

Details:

Rink 1  Bill Lawrence  Mike James  Sandra Huxford  lost 16 - 21

Epsom started well & led 12 - 7 after 10 ends.  However, Reigate Priory had the better of the rest of the game and won by 5 shots.

Rink 2  Audrey Jones  Derek Hoffmann  Ken Lacey  lost 12 - 19

Epsom was behind until the 13th end when they took the lead 12 - 11.  However, just like rink 1 Epsom fell away allowing Reigate Priory to go on win by 7 shots.

Rink 3  Arthur Upward  Frank Thompson  Bob Blaker  won 28 - 11

Epsom dominated this game all afternoon.  They went ahead 12 - 2 after just 5 ends and continued to score well.  They led 19 - 5 after 10 ends & 22 - 10 after 15 ends.  They finished well & won by 17 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 56   Reigate Priory 51

 

Chrystie League

Epsom played away on Monday 1st August 2016 against Esher and won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink and lost overall 14 - 21. (Both teams agreed to end the match after 11 ends because of rain).

Details:

Epsom was 1 - 5 down after 5 ends & lost by 9 shots.

Rink 2  Bob Lister  Derek Martin  Ken Lacey  Fred Read  won 10 - 8

Epsom led 6 - 3 after 5 ends and won by 2 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 14  Esher 21    Epsom 1 point   Esher 3 points

 

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played the Piscatorials at home in a Triples match on Saturday 30th July 2016 and won 4 rinks, lost on 2 rinks but won overall 120 - 84.

Details:

Rink 1  Vic Phillips  Pat Walmsley  John Warren  won 18 - 14

Epsom started strongly and led 13 - 6 after 10 ends and 18 - 9 after 15 ends.  The Piscatorials won the last 3 ends, but Epsom still won by 4 shots.

Rink 2  Frank Thompson  Bill Lawrence  Martin Harbottle  won 22 - 11

Epsom led 10 - 8 after 10 ends and extended the lead to 19 - 10 after 15 ends.  Epsom went on to win by 11 shots.

Rink 3  Mike James  Gill Sperring  Bob Blaker   lost 18 - 20

Epsom led 11 - 6 after 10 ends, but dropped 7 shots on end 15 to go behind 16 - 17.  The last 3 ends were close, but Epsom lost by 2 shots.

Rink 4  Sue Needham  Derek Hoffmann  Brian Kenyon  lost 11 - 21

Epsom was outplayed for most of this game.  They were 2 - 17 behind after 10 ends & 3 - 21 adrift after 15 ends.  However, Epsom had 3 good ends to finish 10 shots down.

Rink 5  Geoff Purrott Anne Hoffmann  George Sperring    won 27 - 8

Epsom was ahead all afternoon on this rink.  They led 17 - 7 after 10 ends, 24 - 7 after 15 ends and went on to win by 19 shots.

Rink 6  Audrey Jones  David Ganney  John Huxford  won 24 - 10

This was a similar story to rink 5.  Epsom led 12 - 6 after 10 ends, 17 - 10 after 15 ends & finished strongly to win by 14 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 120  Piscatorials 84

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom Ladies played at home against Dorking in a Triples match on Thursday 28th July 2016 and won on 1 rink, lost on the second and lost overall 35 - 39.

Details:

Rink 5  Audrey Jones  Ruth Baker  Sylvia Smart  won 20 - 19

After 10 ends Epsom led 13 - 9, but lost the lead, 16 - 17 on the 15th end.  With 3 ends to go Epsom managed to win by just 1 shot.

Rink 6  Sue Needham  Frances Suttonwood  Anne Hoffmann  lost 15 - 20

Dorking had the upper hand on this rink all afternoon.  Epsom trailed 5 - 13 after 10 ends,9 - 17 after 15 ends and lost by 5 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom35  Dorking 39

 

Mole Valley Cup

Epsom 'A' (Men) played against Oxshott in the Semi Final of the Mole Valley Cup on Wednesday 27th July 2016 and won at home & away.

Details:

Home: Brian Kenyon  John Warren Terry Berry  won 20 - 10

This was a comfortable win for Epsom as they led all evening.  They were 5 - 1 ahead after 5 ends, 15 - 4 in front after 10 ends & went on to win by 10 shots.

Away: Howard Ellis  Andrew Turnbull  John Huxford   won 16 - 9

A better start for the away team as they went into a 9 - 1 lead after 5 ends.  They still led 11 - 6 after 10 ends & went on to win by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 36   Oxshott 19

The Final will be held at Ashtead Bowling Club on Thursday 18th August 2016.

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom played at home against Newdigate in a Friendly Triples match on Wednesday 27th July 2016 and won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink, and won overall 69 - 48.

Details:

Rink 2  Mike James  Frank Thompson  Ken Lacey  Brian Kenyon  lost 14 - 21

After 10 ends the scores were level 8 - 8, but Epsom struggled in the second half and were 11 - 16 down at 15 ends and lost by 7 shots.

Rink 3  Bill Lawrence  Derek Hoffmann  Martin Harbottle  John Warren  won 30 - 11

Epsom was ahead all afternoon.  They led 10 - 6 after 10 ends, 18 - 9 after 15 ends & won convincingly by 19 shots.

Rink 4  Derek Martin  Stefan Tomm  Geoff Purrott  John Hart  won 25 - 16

Epsom got off to a great start going into a 14 - 0 lead after just 3 ends.  Newdigate soon got into the game, but Epsom still led 21 - 13 after 15 ends & went on to win by 9 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 69  Newdigate 48

 

Chrystie League

Epsom played at home against Brockham in the Chrystie League on Monday 25th July 2016 and won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink, but won overall 28 - 23 (3 - 1).

Details:

Rink 1  Mike James  Bob Lister  Derek Martin  Phil Sims  lost 13 - 15

Epsom was 1 - 5 down after 5 ends, but came back well to lead 8 - 6 after 10 ends.  They still led by 1 shot on the 15th end, but slipped to a 2 shot defeat.

Rink 2  Andrew McLean  Arthur Upward  Ken Lacey  Ron Snow  won 15 - 8

Epsom led all evening on this rink.  They led 5 - 1 after 5 ends & 8 - 5 after 10 ends.  Epsom went on to win by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 28  Brockham 23    Epsom 3 points   Brockham 1 point

Andrew McLean played his very first game in the Chrystie League.

 

Sutton & District Bowling Association - Yonwin Cup

Epsom played away at Carshalton on Monday 25th July 2016 in the Yonwin Cup & won on all 3 rinks winning the match 63 - 42.

Details:

Rink 1  Brian Kenyon  Bob Blaker  Martin Harbottle  Jim Scott  won 19 - 16

Epsom was 6 - 9 after 10 ends, but came back well to lead 13 - 11 after 15 ends.  Carshalton levelled the scores on the next end, but Epsom went on to win by 3 shots.

Rink 2  Andrew Turnbull  John Meningen  Terry Berry  Graham Naish  won 25 - 11

Epsom dominated this rink all evening allowing Carshalton to score on only 7 ends.  Epsom led 13 - 5 after 10 ends, 17 - 10 after 15 ends & went on to win by 14 shots.

Rink 3  Howard Ellis  John Warren John Huxford  Les Owen  won 19 - 15

Epsom took the lead on the 4th end & continued to lead throughout the evening.  They led 11 - 9 after 10 ends, 15 - 12 after 15 ends finally winning by 4 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 63   Carshalton 42

 

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played at home against Box B C, Wiltshire on Sunday 24th July 2016 and won on all 6 rinks.  This match was reduced a 6 Triples.

Details:

Rink 1  Brian Kenyon  Geoff Purrott  Eileen Mills  won 20 - 15

Epsom started slowly on this rink finding themselves 6 - 10 down after 10 ends.  They had the upper hand for the rest of the game & led 14 - 13 after 15 ends going on to win by 5 shots.

Rink 2  Brian Collis  Frances Suttonwood  John Huxford  won 28 - 15

After 10 ends Epsom led 13 - 11 and dominated play from then on.  They led 22 - 12 after 15 ends & went on to win by 13 shots.

Rink 3  Anne Hoffmann  Derek Hoffmann  David Sowdon  won 28 - 8

Epsom's Triple played well on this rink and led 15 - 4 after 10 ends.  They continued to outplay their opponents going on to win by 20 shots.

Rink 4  Audrey Jones  Trish Southgate  Peter Miller  won 19 - 16

This was a very close game throughout the afternoon.  Epsom led 11 - 9 after 10 ends, but went behind 14 - 16 after 15 ends.  Going into the last end the scores were level, but Epsom scored 3 shots to snatch a win.

Rink 5  Vic Phillips/Howard Ellis  Bill Lawrence  John Warren  won 19 - 10

Epsom started well & led 10 - 5 after 10 ends.  They moved further ahead 17 - 8 after 15 ends finally winning by 9 shots.

Rink 6  Mike James Bob Blaker  Sandra Huxford  won 24 - 11

Epsom led 12 - 6 after 10 ends, 19 - 8 after 15 ends & went on to win convincingly by 13 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 138  Box B C 75

Trish Southgate played her first game for Epsom Bowling Club.

 

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played away against Brockham on Wednesday 20th July 2016 in a Triples match and won 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 56 - 45.

Details:

Rink 2  Bill Lawrence  Mike James  John Warren  won 27 - 10

Epsom dominated this rink from the start.  They led 15 - 2 after 10 ends, 23 - 8 after 15 ends & went on to win by 17 shots.

Rink 3  Arthur Upward  David Ganney  Bob Blaker  won 14 - 10

After being 5 - 8 behind after 10 ends Epsom went ahead 12 - 9 after 15 ends and kept the lead to win by 4 shots.

Rink 4  Bob Lister  Sylvia Smart  Stefan Tomm  lost 15 - 25

Epsom was outplayed in this Triple.  They were 6 - 12 down after 10 ends, 8 - 23 behind after 15 ends & lost by 10 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 56  Brockham 45

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom played away on Saturday 23rd July 2016 against Merton Park in a 3 rink Friendly match.  They won on one rink, drew on one rink, lost the third, but won overall 55 - 43.

Details:

Rink 4  David Ganney  Mike James  Roy Ward  John Huxford  won 24 - 11

Epsom led all afternoon.  They led 10 - 5 after 10 ends, 14 - 8 after 15 ends & went on to win by 13 shots.

Rink 5  Howard Ellis  Geoff Benfield  Ken Lacey  Bob Blaker  lost 13 - 14

As the final score suggests this was a very close game.  Epsom lead by 1 shot at 5 & 10 ends, but went behind 11 - 12 on the 18th end.  They fought well over the last 3 ends, but lost by just the one shot.

Rink 6  John Hart  Bill Lawrence  Keith Roberts  Andrew Turnbull  drew 18 - 18

Epsom was 10 - 16 down after 16 ends, but went ahead 17 - 16 on the 19th end.  Going into the last end Epsom was 17 - 18 down, but Andy drew the shot to earn a draw.

Final Score:  Epsom 55  Merton Park 43

 

Chrystie League

Epsom played away on Monday 18th July 2016 against Pippbrook and lost heavily on both rinks.

Details:

Epsom was outplayed on this rink.  They were 4 - 12 behind after 10 ends and lost by 8 shots.

Rink 2  Mike James  Bill Lawrence  Ken Lacey  Phil Sims  lost 9 - 29

Epsom held Pippbrook up to 10 ends when they were only 3 shots adrift.  However, they were completely outplayed over the remaining ends to lose by 20 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 18  Pippbrook 46    Epsom 0 points  Pippbrook 4 points

 

Mixed Friendly v Ashtead

Epsom played away at Ashtead in a Mixed match on Sunday 17th July 2016.  They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink but won overall 93 - 61.

Details:

Rink 2  Bill Lawrence  Sue Needham  Sylvia Smart  John Warren  won 22 - 13

Epsom led throughout this game.  They were 9 - 7 ahead after 10 ends, 19 - 8 in front after 15 ends & won by 9 shots.

Rink 3  Brian Collis  Geoff Purrott  Derek Hoffmann  Eileen Mills  won 27 - 12

A similar story to rink 2 with Epsom leading 13 - 6 after 10 ends, 21 - 11 after 15 ends and winning by 15 shots.

Rink 4  Pat Walmsley  Frank Thompson   David Ganney  Bob Blaker  won 26 - 15

Another convincing win on this rink with Epsom in control all afternoon.  They led 19 - 6 after 10 ends, 22 - 12 after 15 ends & won by 11 shots.

Rink 5  Mike James  Anne Hoffmann  Sandra Huxford  Brian Kenyon  lost 18 - 21

Epsom struggled on this rink and were behind all afternoon.  After 10 ends they trailed 5 - 13 and lost by 3 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 93  Ashtead 61

 

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom men played away on Saturday 16th July 2016 against Sutton. This was the worst defeat in the ESL by Sutton since the League began.  The previous worst loss was in 2002 (-22 shots).  This was also the highest combined total number of shots between these two teams (177).  The previous being 169 shots in 1990 & 2015.  It is also the worst points defeat by Sutton.

Details:

Rink 7  Andrew Turnbull  Martin Harbottle  John Meningen  Peter Miller  lost 12 - 27

After 10 ends Epsom was 6 - 11 down and it not get much better as they went on to lose by 15 shots.

Rink 9  Howard Ellis  John Hart  Terry Berry  Graham Naish  lost 27 - 28

Epsom played well for 11 ends when they led 16 - 8.  However, they lost the next 5 ends dropping 16 shots to go behind 16 - 26 on the 16th end.  They fought back well scoring 4 shots on the 19th end & 6 shots on the last end to lose by 1 shot.

Rink 11  Brian Kenyon  Bob Blaker  John Huxford  David Sowdon  lost 14 - 21

Epsom was level 9 - 9 after 10 ends, but soon went behind 11 - 15 after 15 ends.  They drew level again on the 17th end 14 - 14, but then dropped 7 shots over the last 4 ends to lose by 7 shots.

Rink 12  Keith Roberts George Sperring  John Warren  Jim Scott  drew 24 - 24

Epsom was behind up until the 17th end, but then immediately went ahead 21 - 19.  Unfortunately they then dropped a 5 to go behind again, but fought hard for the draw.

Final Score:  Epsom 77  Sutton 100   Epsom 1 point  Sutton 11 points

 

East Surrey League - Ladies

Epsom Ladies played away against Sutton in the East Surrey League on Saturday 16th July 2016.  They lost on both rinks & the match 31 - 38.

Details:

Rink 8  Pat Walmsley  Ruth Nixon  Sylvia Smart  Gill Sperring  lost 15 - 16

Epsom played well for 17 ends when they led 15 - 10.  However, they lost the last 4 ends dropping 6 shots to lose by just 1 shot.

Rink 10  Audrey Jones  Anne Hoffmann  Sandra Huxford  Eileen Mills  lost 16 - 22

This was a similar story to rink 8 when Epsom led 14 - 12 after 16 ends, but were then outscored 2 - 10 over the last 5 ends to lose by 6 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 31  Sutton 38    Epsom 0 points  Sutton 4 points

 

Area 3 Top 4 Epsom 'B'

Epsom 'B' played away at Epsom Park on Thursday 14th July 2016 and were well beaten.

Details:

Rink 1  Brian Kenyon  Andrew Turnbull  Martin Harbottle  John Huxford  lost 4 - 25

Epsom had a disastrous start finding themselves 0 - 13 down after 9 ends.  They were still well behind 3 - 19 after 15 ends and they conceded after 15 ends losing by 21 shots.

 

Chrystie League

Epsom played at home on Monday 11th July 2016 against Leatherhead and drew on 1 rink, lost on the second & lost overall 24 - 25 (½ - 3½).

Details:

Rink 1  John Savill  Mike James  Phil Sims  Ron Snow  drew 14 - 14

After 10 ends  Epsom led 11 - 4 & still led 13 - 9 after 15 ends.  They led Leatherhead back into the game finally ending up with a draw.

Rink 2  Bill Lawrence  Derek Cash  Ken Lacey  Fred Read  lost 10 - 11

Epsom was behind all evening.  They were 7 - 10 down after 15 ends and lost by just the 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 24  Leatherhead 25    Epsom ½ point  Leatherhead 3½ points.

Derek Cash played his first game in the Chrystie League.

 

East Surrey League - Men Top 10

Epsom men played away on Monday 11th July 2016 against Shirley Park in the ESL Top 10 Competition. They were outplayed in the Singles, Pairs & Triples, but won the Fours.

Details:

Singles: Terry Berry lost 2 - 21

Terry was outplayed in this singles.

Pairs: Brian Kenyon John Huxford  lost 7 - 24 (17 ends played)

Epsom's Pair struggled & found themselves 4 - 15 down after 10 ends.  They lost by 17 shots.

Triples: Andrew Turnbull  Martin Harbottle  Jim Scott  lost 9 - 19

After 10 ends Epsom was 6 - 11 down & conceded on the 16th end losing by 10 shots.

Fours: Howard Ellis Keith Roberts Bob Blaker  Graham Naish  won 15 - 7

Epsom played well in the Fours & led 11 - 4 after 10 ends.  They conceded after 15 ends with a 8 shot lead.

Final Score:  Epsom 1  Shirley Park 3

Keith Roberts played his first game in the ESL Top 10.

 

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom men played away on Sunday 10th July 2016 against Purley Bury. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks but won overall 82 - 80 (8 - 4). This was another nail biter with the match being decided on the very last end on rink 4.

This was the fourth game in a row that Epsom has beaten Purley Bury.

Details:

Rink 1  Stefan Tomm George Sperring  Martin Harbottle  Jim Scott  won 21 - 18

This was a very close game with the scores level, 8 - 8 after 10 ends.  Epsom then had 5 good ends to go ahead 17 - 12.  Purley Bury came back well to level once again on the 20th end, 18 - 18.  Jim faced two shots down when he went to play, but managed to trail the jack for 3 shots to win a very good game.

Rink 3  Keith Roberts  John Hart  John Huxford  David Sowdon  lost 16 - 20

Epsom trailed 5 - 12 after 10 ends, but fought back well with David playing some excellent bowls.  They levelled 14 - 14 after 17 ends then went into a two shot lead on the next end.  Purley Bury won the last 3 ends to snatch a 4 shot win.

Rink 4  Brian Kenyon  Bob Blaker Peter Miller  Les Owen  won 28 - 19

Epsom had a good lead, 13 - 7 after 10 ends & on the 15th end scored 7 shots to go further ahead 23 - 11.

Going into the last end (with all other rinks finished) the scores across the 4 rinks were level.  Epsom got the shots required to win the match & the rink by 9 shots.

Rink 5  Howard Ellis  Geoff Purrott  Terry Berry  Graham Naish  lost 17 - 23

Epsom struggled with the pace of the green on this rink.  They were behind 8 - 12 after 10 ends & further behind 12 - 20 after 15 ends.  They lost by 6 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 82  Purley Bury 80   Epsom 8 points  Purley Bury 4 points

 

Past Times - Men

Epsom played against Merton Park on Saturday 9th July 2016 and won by 7 shots at home, but lost by 8 shots away.

Details:

Epsom started slowly and were 7 - 10 behind after 10 ends.  On the 16th end they took the lead for the first time 14 - 13 and led for the rest of the morning going on to win by 7 shots.

Away:  Howard Ellis  Bob Blaker  Terry Berry  Graham Naish  lost 15 - 23

Epsom led 11 - 6 after 10 ends, but Merton Park levelled the scores 12 - 12 after 14 ends.  They were outplayed over the remaining ends finally losing by 8 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 36  Merton Park 37

 

Mole Valley Cup

Epsom 'A' played Newdigate on Wednesday 6th July 2016 and won at home & away.

Details:

Home: Howard Ellis  Andrew Turnbull  John Huxford  won 20 - 12

After 8 ends Epsom had a good lead 13 - 3 & they still led 18 - 7 after 12 ends.  They won by 8 shots.

Away:   Brian Kenyon  Terry Berry  John Warren  won 13 - 10

This was a very close game with the lead changing end after end.  Epsom was 3 - 6 down after 6 ends, took the lead on the 8th end, but went behind again 8 - 9 on the 11th end.  Over the last 4 ends Epsom outscored Newdigate 6 - 1 to go on to win by 3 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 33  Newdigate 22

 

Area 3 Top 4

Epsom 'A' played at home on Monday 4th July 2016 against Carshalton Beeches and lost 19 - 20 on an extra end.

Details:

After 10 ends Epsom led 11 - 9 & 15 - 14 after 15 ends.  Epsom lost the lead on the 19th end 17 - 18, but levelled the scores 19 - 19 on the 21st end.  Epsom lost the extra end.

Epsom played at home on Monday 4th July 2016 against Bookham and won on 1 rink, lost on the second & lost overall 30 - 32 (1 - 3).

Epsom was behind 5 - 10 after 10 ends, but came back well to lead 16 - 12 after 15 ends.  They maintained this momentum to win by 7 shots.

East Surrey League - Ladies

Epsom Ladies played at home against Godstone in the East Surrey League on Sunday 3rd July 2016.  They lost on both rinks & the match 35 - 42.

Epsom was 11 - 12 down after 10 ends, but drew level 15 - 15 after 15 ends. On the 18th end Epsom led 21 - 18, but lost the last 3 ends to lose by 2 shots.

Rink 4  Ruth Baker  Dolly Snow  Sylvia Smart  Gill Sperring  lost 14 - 19

After 10 ends Epsom led 9 - 6, but went behind 11 - 13 after 15 ends.  Going into the last end Epsom was just 1 shot down, 14 - 15 but dropped 4 shots to lose by 5 shots.

East Surrey League - Men

Epsom men played at home on Saturday 2nd July 2016 against Old Coulsdon.  Epsom won on 3 rinks, lost on one rink & won the match 91 - 55 (10 - 2).  This was the fourth match in a row that Epsom have beaten Old Coulsdon and the win was better than the previous best win in 2014 (92 - 61 +31 shots).

Epsom was behind on this rink all afternoon.  They were 6 - 8 down after 10 ends, 10 - 14 adrift after 15 ends and lost by 8 shots.

Rink 4    Stefan Tomm  Bob Blaker Andrew Turnbull  David Sowdon  won 27 - 9

Epsom dominate this game from the start.  They led 14 - 4 after 10 ends, 20 - 6 after 15 ends and went on to win by 18 shots.

Rink 5  Keith Roberts  Geoff Purrott  John Meningen  John Warren  won 21 - 14

After 9 ends the scores were level 8 - 8, but Epsom had 6 good ends to go into a 17 - 11 lead after 15 ends.  They went on to win by 7 shots.

Rink 6  Brian Kenyon  George Sperring  Martin Harbottle  Les Owen  won 31 - 12

As the score suggests Epsom outplayed Old Coulsdon on this rink.  They led 12 - 7 after 10 ends & extended the lead to 23 - 9 after 15 ends.  Epsom finished strongly and won by 19 shots.
