Men's Friendly

Epsom played against Purley on Thursday 21st May 2026.  They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & lost overall 46 - 57.

After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom were 18 - 26 down, but closed the gap to 3 shots behind (42 - 45) on ends 15.  They lost by 11 shots.

Details:

Rink 1  Don Indran Frank Thompson Les Owen  won 19 - 18

Epsom led 8 - 5 after 9 ends & 19 - 11 on end 15.  They lost the last 3 ends & won by 1 shot.

Rink 2  Ray Evans John Hart Bob Blaker  lost 14 - 24

Epsom were 5 - 14 down after 9 ends & 5 - 20 behind on end 12.  They won the next 3 ends to be 13 - 20 behind & lost by 10 shots.

Rink 3  Nick Rowan Roger Jackson David Fearn  lost 13 - 15

Epsom were 5 - 9 down after 9 ends & 7 - 14 behind on end 12.  They won the next 4 ends to close the gap to 12 - 14 & lost by 2 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 46  Purley 57

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom played against Carshalton on Monday 18th May 2026. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 73 - 55.  After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 34 - 26 & were 16 shots ahead (61 - 45) on ends 15.  They won by 18 shots.

Rink 1  Barry Coe Brian Collis John Hart  lost 8 - 19

Epsom were 3 - 7 down after 9 ends & 7 - 14 behind on end 15.  They lost by 11 shots.

Rink 2  Nick Rowan Paul Maskell Bob Blaker  won 22 - 11

Epsom led 13 - 2 after 9 ends & 14 - 9 on end 13.  They won 4 of the last 5 ends & won by 11 shots.

Rink 3  Martin Harbottle Frank Thompson Norman Mann  won 15 - 11

Epsom were 6 - 7 down after 9 ends, but led 13 - 9 on end 15.  They won by 4 shots.

Rink 4  Don Indran Mick Cooper David Fearn  won 28 - 14

Epsom were 12 - 13 down after 10 ends, but won the next 7 ends to lead 28 - 13.  They won by 14 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 73 Carshalton 55

 

East Surrey League

Epsom played at home against Shirley Park on Saturday 16th May 2026. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & lost overall 48 - 59 (2 - 8). After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom were 29 - 31 down & were 9 shots behind (43 - 52) on ends 15.  They lost by 11 shots.

Rink 1  Dennis King Martin Harbottle John Hart David Fearn  lost 20 - 22

Epsom led 14 - 2 after 7 ends, but dropped 15 shots over the next 4 ends to go 14 - 17 behind.  They led 20 - 19 on end 15, but lost the last 3 ends to lose by 2 shots.

Rink 3  Paul Maskell John Warren Keith Roberts Les Owen  won 16 - 15

Epsom led 8 - 7 after 9 ends & won the next 4 ends to lead 15 - 7.  They led 15 - 11 on end 15 & won by 1 shot.

Rink 5  Roger Jackson John Wellard Bob Blaker Norman Mann  lost 12 - 22

Epsom were 7 - 13 down after 9 ends & 8 - 22 behind on end 15.  They lost by 10 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 48  Shirley Park 59  Epsom 2 points  Shirley Park 8 points

 

Bowls England Two Fours

Epsom played at home against Sutton 'B' on Tuesday 12th May 2026. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & won overall 33 - 28.  After 9 ends across the 2 rinks Epsom led 20 - 14 & were 7 shots ahead (31 - 24) on ends 15.  They won by 5 shots.

Epsom led 13 - 4 after 9 ends & 19 - 7 on end 15.  They won by 11 shots.

Rink 4  Mick Cooper Brian Collis Keith Roberts Les Owen  lost 13 - 19

Epsom were 7 - 10 down after 9 ends & 12 - 17 behind on end 15.  They lost by 6 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 33 Sutton 28

Brian Collis played his first game in this Competition.

 

Vilamoura Mixed League

Epsom played against Banstead Neville on Monday 11th May 2026. They won away, lost at home & lost overall 24 - 48 (2 - 4).

Details:

Home: Don Indran Sue Skinner Frank Thompson lost 6 - 33

Epsom were 3 - 18 down after 9 ends & lost by 27 shots.

Away: Janet Newman Barry Coe Phil Sims  won 18 - 15

Epsom led 12 - 4 after 9 ends & 16 - 11 on end 15.  They won by 3 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 24  Banstead Neville 48  Epsom 2 points  Banstead Neville 4 points.

 

East Surrey League

Epsom travelled to Redhill on Saturday 9th May 2026 to play their 3rd ESL match. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & lost overall 47 - 54 (2 - 8). After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 28 - 23, but were 2 shots behind (42 - 44) on ends 15.  They lost by 7 shots.

Epsom led 11 - 7 after 9 ends & 22 - 11 on end 15.  They won by 12 shots.

Rink 2  James Henderson Richard Price Phil Sims John Warren  lost 6 - 24

Epsom were 5 - 12 down after 9 ends & 6 - 14 behind on end 12.  They lost the remaining ends to lose by 18 shots.

Rink 3  Dennis King Mick Cooper John Hart David Fearn  lost 17 - 18

Epsom led 12 - 4 after 9 ends, but were 14 - 15 down on end 15.  They led 17 - 16 going into the last end, but dropped 2 shots to lose by 1 shot.

Final Score:  Epsom 47  Redhill 54  Epsom 2 points  Redhill 8 points

James Henderson played in his very first ESL match for Epsom Bowling Club.  He becomes the 179th member to represent the Club in this league.

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom ladies played against Ewell Village on Thursday 7th May 2026. They won on both rinks & the match 31 - 25.

After 9 ends across the 2 rinks Epsom were 11 - 17 down, but came back well to lead by 4 shots (26 - 22) on ends 15. They went on to win by 6 shots.

Rink 2  Elaine Coe Frances Suttonwood Annette Jordan  won 17 - 14

Epsom were 6 - 10 down after 9 ends, but took the lead 14 - 13 on end 15.  They won by 3 shots.

Rink 3  Sue Skinner Mary Green Ruth Baker  won 14 - 11

Epsom were 7 - 9 down after 13 ends, but won the next 2 ends picking up a total of 5 shots to lead 12 - 9.  They went on to win by 3 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 31  Ewell Village 25

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom ladies played their third friendly game of the season at home against Purley on Tuesday 5th May 2026. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & lost overall 28 - 36. After 9 ends across both rinks Epsom were 9 - 19 down, but came back well to be 5 shots behind (24 - 29) on ends 15. They lost by 8 shots.

Rink 3  Elaine Coe Lynn Phillips Annette Jordan  lost 10 - 25

Epsom were 1 - 15 down after 9 ends, but came back well to be 10 - 18 behind on end 15.  They lost the last 3 ends to lose by 15 shots.

Rink 4  Sandy Cooper Mary Green Christine Summerfield  won 18 - 11

Epsom led 8 - 4 after 9 ends & 14 - 11 on end 15.  They won by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 28  Purley 36

 

East Surrey League

Epsom played their second league game of the season in the ESL at home against Caterham. They won on all 3 rinks & the match 57 - 42 (10 - 0). After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 29 - 20 & were 15 shots ahead (50 - 35) on ends 15.  They won by 15 shots.

Details:

Rink 1  Paul Maskell Phil Sims John Warren Les Owen  won 19 - 16

Epsom were 2 - 6 down after 5 ends, but won the next 5 ends to lead 11 - 6.  The scores were level going into the last end 16 - 16, but Epsom scored 3 shots to win by 3.

Rink 2  Dennis King Mick Cooper John Hart David Fearn  won 19 - 15

Epsom led 11 - 9 after 9 ends & 18 - 13 on end 15.  They won by 4 shots.

Rink 3  Roger Jackson John Wellard Bob Blaker Norman Mann  won 19 - 11

Epsom led 8 - 5 after 9 ends & 16 - 10 on end 15.  They won by 8 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 57  Caterham 42  Epsom 10 points  Caterham 0 points

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom travelled to Dorking on Thursday 30th April 2026 and won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & won overall 30 - 29. After 9 ends across both rinks the scores were level 12 - 12, but Epsom were 3 shots behind (22 - 25) on ends 15.  They went on to win by 1 shot.

Epsom were 4 - 7 down after 9 ends & 7 - 13 behind on end 15.  They lost by 4 shots.

Rink 3  Sue Skinner Mary Green Frances Suttonwood  won 18 - 13

Epsom led 8 - 5 after 9 ends & 15 - 12 on end 15.  They won by 5 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 30  Dorking 29

 

Men's Friendly

Epsom played their very first Men's friendly game of the season against Chipstead.  They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & lost overall 45 - 59.

Details:

Rink 3  Richard Price Frank Thompson Bob Blaker  lost 10 - 23

Epsom were 7 - 11 down after 9 ends & 8 - 14 behind on end 12.  They lost 5 of the last 6 ends to lose by 13 shots.

Rink 4  Don Indran Mick Cooper Les Owen  won 18 - 14

The scores were level 8 - 8 after 11 ends & still level 12 - 12 on end 15. Epsom went behind 12 - 13 on end 16, but picked up 6 shots on the next end & went on to win by 4 shots.

Rink 5  James Henderson Phil Sims David Fearn  lost 17 - 22

Epsom were 5 - 14 down after 9 ends & 16 - 19 behind on end 15.  They lost by 5 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 45  Chipstead 59

James Henderson played his very first men's friendly match for Epsom Bowling Club.

 

Ladies' Friendly

Epsom ladies played their very first friendly game of the season against Chipstead.  They lost on both rinks & the match 20 - 47.

Epsom were 6 - 13 down after 9 ends & lost by 10 shots.

Epsom were 6 - 9 down after 9 ends & lost by 17 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 20  Chipstead 47

 

East Surrey League

Epsom played their very first game of the season in an ESL League match away against Purley. They won on 2 rinks, drew on 1 rink & won overall 72 - 43 (9 - 1). After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 32 - 20 & were 16 shots ahead (54 - 38) on ends 15.  They went on to win by 29 shots.

Epsom were 9 - 10 down after 9 ends & 11 - 12 behind on end 12.  They won 4 of the last 6 ends to win by 5 shots.

Rink 3  Roger Jackson John Wellard Bob Blaker Norman Mann  drew 21 - 21

Epsom were also 9 - 10 down after 9 ends & 17 - 18 behind on end 15.  They went into the last end 19 - 21 down, but scored 2 shots to tie the rink.

Rink 4  Paul Maskell John Warren Keith Roberts Les Owen  won 31 - 7

Epsom won 14 of the 18 ends.  They led 14 - 3 after 9 ends, 21 - 7 on end 15 & picked up a total of 10 shots over the last 3 ends to win by 24 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 72  Purley 43  Epsom 9 points  Purley 1 point

Dennis King played in his very first ESL game for Epsom Bowling Club & becomes the 178th member to represent the Club in this League.
